I have little compassion for the poor. It doesn't mean I'm a bad Christian- it means I know what is going on the world.

OK, mates. Here's the rest of the OP:
Sorry, but that is flat out wrong.
You can give poor all the money in the world and they'll be irresponsible with it. Poverty will always exist so long as stupidity exists. Go to Latin America and see what the 'noble' poor there do with the money their families in the US send back.
Do they buy a better house? Healthcare? Education?
No!
They buy new shoes, designer clothes, TVs and electronics. They like believing they have the same quality of life as Americans- but Americans don't watch plasma tvs on dirt floors.
I have little compassion for the poor. It doesn't mean I'm a bad Christian- it means I know what is going on the world.
Wow. Just wow. Spoken like someone who has never had to worry about where his next meal will come from.
You all do realize that 'poor' was a sarcastic term for impoverished illegal immigrants from Latin America in the topic?
Again, post taken out of context from the topic as FSTDT does. I guess it makes it easier for people to make hateful comments about people they think poorily of for making hateful comments...
It doesn't matter who you were talking about, Mr. Bullet. Whether or not your words applied to Latin American immigrants has little effect on the fact that they were rude, hurtful and unethical. Not to mention the fact that, yes, it does make you a bad Christian. Jesus' teachings are Jesus' teachings.
No, it doesn't mean you're a bad christian.
It means you are a bad PERSON!
And Stray bullet is a piece of bigoted shit as well.
Good for you! You're a good christian!
But like abpove, you are a bad person.
I notice a lot of christians are bad people.
You see, when you claim to follow Christ, and then proudly defy his final commandment, you kinda are a bad Christian. A really, really, really bad, sucky, lousy Christian.
Actually, you're not, because if you refuse to follow Christ you can't be a Christ follower, can you?
I have, truth be told, heard this sentiment expressed several times before by religious people, only they were all Catholics, so I thought it was just the usual Catholic superiority thing. Guess not.
stray bullet I read your post and for some reason I could only think of the saying: "Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers and sisters, that you do to me"
I wonder who said that? No matter, it was probably one of those self-righteous atheists. We all know Jesus opposes helping the poor!
"I have little compassion for the poor."
You evil, heartless man.
"It doesn't mean I'm a bad Christian."
YES, IT DOES. God, stop giving us non-fundie Christians a bad name.
"It means I know what is going on in the world."
No, it means you're a heartless jerk.
A certain someone will have little compassion for you , then. Who is he?
Someone who healed the sick for nothing. And when he fed a certain 5,000, did he ask for payment from them...?!
Matthew 25:31-40.
But then you've probably never read your Bible. Or - considering the above - you daren't .
Was that certain someone therefore a bad Christian then...?
It does mean that you're a bad Christian, and it means that you do NOT know what is going on in the world.
If hard work always paid off, most women in rural Africa would be billionaires. Instead it's the sons and daughters of rich people that are billionaires.
Matthew 25:34-36
Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in, I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you visited Me.'
As ever, what is "going on" is poverty, hunger, disease, and warfare to make the lives of some people a misery ...if they manage to hold on to those lives. Not caring about that is pretty much the textbook definition of a bad Christian.
Confused?
