So, to make a long story short, 42 'kids' sought out Elijah as he was ascending to Heaven, and mocked God and Elijah's ascent into Heaven. All Elijah did was pronounce God's curse on the kids. God chose to send 2 bears to kill them. Now, I won't defend God, because, well, God is God, and I don't think He needs 'defending.' But this to me doesn't exactly sound like God slaughtered 42 people just because a kid threw a pebble and called Elijah 'baldy.' It sounds more like God pronounced His judgment upon people who mocked Him and His prophet.
