Darwin was rascist, it came with living back in the day. This does not mean that he was wrong in general though, just that he was wrong in some of his details.
Favored races doesn't point to black vs white vs Asian vs Indians but the surviving kind vs the kind that goes extinct.

The term \"favored races\" referred to those species of plants and animals more successfully adapted to their environment. It had nothing to do with what we call \"race\" in human terms - humans were barely mentioned in the book. For example, he wrote \"... it seems to me not improbable, that if we could succeed in naturalising, or were to cultivate, during many generations, the several races, for instance, of the cabbage, in very poor soil.\" By the standards of his day, Darwin was fairly liberal, although he (like most other Europeans) probably thought Europeans were superior to other humans. He was opposed to slavery. Anyway, what does this ad hominem stuff have to do with the validity of his theory? William Shockley invented the transistor and won the Nobel Prize in physics, and he was about as racist as they come.
