[On God ordering the ancient Hebrews to kill all, including children]God has emotions, he chose to act on them, he promised he would throw down his wrath and he did, he can't lie. I admit it is brutal and scary sounding, but how can you judge God? He had his reasons and they were just. Do you want an emotionless, robotic God? No, because then we would be the same. Look at all the genocide that has happened at the hand of man, is that any better?

\"God has emotions, he chose to act on them, he promised he would throw down his wrath and he did, he can't lie.\"
Can a perfect being have emotions?
Just because god ran his mouth and promised to 'throw down' he has to? what is he, in seventh grade and he has to fight the bully so he doesn't lose face? WTF?
\"I admit it is brutal and scary sounding\"
Brutal and scary, yes. And you defend it instead of questioning the motives.
\"but how can you judge God?\"
I judge god the same way he judges me. We were made in his image.
\"He had his reasons and they were just.\"
What are you basing this off of? Because the bible says god is just so the stories in the bible are just? of course.
\"Do you want an emotionless, robotic God?\"
No. What makes you think i want a child-smiting god?
\"No, because then we would be the same.\"
You and I will never be the same unless you change dramatically.
\"Look at all the genocide that has happened at the hand of man, is that any better?\"
Ahh. The argument of the idiot. Well, man is worse, therefore god isn't that bad. By that rationale Columbine wasn't so bad because Oklahoma City was worse.

So your telling me an omnipotent god is bound by emotions.

Oh, for fuck's sake. If God exists, he ought to be at least as fucking moral as I am. If he can do any fucking thing he wants regardless of morality, he isn't God. He's fucking Q from Star Trek.

How can I judge God? You want to tell me "And then all-powerful being, the most powerful and wise being ever who created the entire universe told people to commit genocide 'cos he, you know, felt like it," and you expect me not to pass judgment on this being you just described? I'll tell you, I can judge the being you just described is evil. Not that God is necessarily evil (I don't thing there is a God, for one), but any God who commands people to commit genocide based on whatever he feels like at the moment is evil.
I think an emotionless, robotic God is better than one that is outright evil, yes.
And when people commit genocide, of course it's evil. But, you know, I don't worship or praise people who commit genocide or say that no one's allowed to judge them. Also, I hold an all-powerful, all-knowing being to a somewhat higher standard than man, for some strange reason.
