a) Who the hell is Atheos?
b) After 4 decades, I'd assume my children were old enough to decide for themselves.

Christians get cards...? Why don't we get cards?

I would like to insult this guy for the "Atheos forbid!!" part, but I can't bring myself to insult someone who used taint, hump, and Christianity in the same sentence.

I'd probably hit him. What kind of jackass would hand out Chick tracts?

Now, if he wanted to be the regular, non-asshole type of Christian, I'd probably be more like the chosen best answer.

...I'm not sure what exactly you think an atheist is, but they do not call upon 'Atheos'

Is he talking about Athos the Musketeer? What's he got to do with this?

I haven't done the research but I would bet dollars to donuts that not many kids raised in a totally secular household eventually find their way to Jesus.

Just sayin'.

a) Who the hell is Atheos?
b) Atheists don't brainwash their children. They're free to believe what they wish.
c) Four Decades? At 40+ years old, he/she is hardly a child any more, and certainly old enough to make up their own mind as to what they believe.
d) Nice strawman. Is that really what you spend your time thinking? I'm sure you'd have a much more pleasant life if you actually took off the blinkers and looked around a bit.

"GEE.....

My girlfriend and I have no interest in having a family. Too much expense involved, and we think there's more than enough people in the world already. Ergo...:

Now what part of 'I don't answer hypothetical questions - least of all ones that are completely irrelevant to me and my personal situation' don't you fundies understand?

After all, if I were to ask you 'Gee, how would it make a right-wing fundamentalist like you feel that their child has come out of the closet and become an out & proud homosexual?', what would your answer be? If it's anything other than 'I'm proud of you acknowledging your true self; you have my full support and Love, and good luck in finding your soul mate', just as you would expect the same reaction from the hypothetical scenario you've posited previously, you've just destroyed your own argument.

Athos is a Musketeer. Atheists are musketeers now? Nothing surprises me any more.

Wait, wait, wait.....

I can wrap my head around this, just gimme a little time....

So, the atheists, people for whom the concept of an all-powerful, self propagating and apparently physics raping deity is ridiculous....pray to a god call "Atheos"? Which, as luck would have is apparently a corruption of the word, "atheist", which is Greek for "Without God". So....praying to "No-God"? Do I got that right?

'K, just checking.

Exactly this happened in our family. I grew up in a secular family. Religion was uninteresting.

My brother at around age of 14 went into his first teenage "difficult phase". He came into contact with christianity, and he thought that we were deliberately withholding "the truth" from him.

This made him rebellious. He demanded that we say grace at dinner. He demanded to discuss religious themes ("discuss" = "agree with me")

We solved this annoying problem quite elegantly by demanding that HE must take his new religiosity seriously. We told him to read the bible and the catechism, from the first to the last page. We sent him to church early on sunday morning. We reminded him of saying prayer before bed, every evening. No exceptions.

After a very short time, the problem "annoying christian brother" was solved by itself. It was solved when he realized what religiosity really means when you practice it seriously ;-) My brother never ever talked again about this embarrassing episode in his life.

Since you're projecting the reaction that a devout person has when they get in the same situation(and not very well. Who use "atheos" to replace obviously GOD?), you pretty much look even more stupid.

One of three of my sons has grown to believe there might be a God but one point I raised them with remains with him. No one knows that God, no church or book carries the answers.
So he's only Agnostic I guess.

It's the girlfriends of my three sons that have even made the subject rear it's head again and none of them have been of any sect of Christianity, just exposed to it in early years.

Which leaves me where I always was, you can believe as long as you don't lock into one church and it's dogmatic bagage, a moderate Christian doesn't faze me.

A "devout, card carrying, Christian" implies one particular brand of unknowable "truth" and that's the shit I can't abide.

WARNING: Long rant.

It's because we don't want cunts like you, angeltress, forcing your religious beliefs down our children's throats. If a child of mine decided to convert to a religion, I'd support them (well, I'd quietly disapprove, but I wouldn't get in their way as they'd have a right to believe what they want), provided they'd thought it through, they were sensible about it and they'd decided to convert for themselves.

However, that's up to them. It's also up to parents to decide what their children hear pertaining to religious matters, not up to you.

That is why those secular laws banning prayer in the classroom exist. So my children can't have your religious views rammed down their fucking throats.

So don't take the fundamentalist's typically politically correct approach of complaining that those laws preventing you from forcing your views on little kids (and thus breaching the human rights of them and their parents in the process) is a breach of your human right (specifically, to free speech).

Why? Because fuck your rights if they breach the rights of others, as then they aren't valid. That's fucking why. What about the right of all those parents to teach their kids how they see fit? What about the right of all those children to come to school to learn, and not be fucking indoctrinated, or scared by threats of Hell?

Those rights are just as important, and your rights stop being valid in situations where exercising them breaches the rights of others. That's how it fucking works, that's the only right way, and that's why it's the fucking law.

People of all faiths are sick of having their children indoctrinated, scared, intimated, told not to think for themselves, and told what to think by cunts like you.

So take your claims of human rights violations - which are probably non-existant in this case anyway, and won't hold any water with someone who has half a brain - stick them up your fucking arse and jump in the nearest available fire.
