Quote# 2440

The theory of evolution is held to be 'tenable' only because it offers a possible naturalistic (read anti-theistic) explanation of origins. The theory was not arrived at as the only reasonable explanation for the evidence; indeed much of the 'evidence' did not exist when the Greeks first came up with the idea.

You know, there had to be a reason someone came up with the idea of evolution. It's not as if you can look at bits and pieces of nature and not notice commonalities between different species. It's just that Darwin was the first to figure out a mechanism.

Fossils were invented in 1859 I suppose.

How the idea came about is moot. It matches with the observations. We win.

There wasn't much evidence for when your God was created, and there still is yet to be any.

Actually, as undoctrinated children develop no such belief atheism is default for everything born on this planet. Don't know how you dragged the greeks into this: eugentics (animal domestication and breeding) maybe?

And yes, earlier animal raising methods used by us for the last ten thousand years have only proved the aspects of 'change over time', the very heart of the theory

Actually Darwin came up with the idea.

Some of these things you should pick up just by being alive.

@Canadiest
There are fundies who think evolution came from Epicurus or one of the other Atheist Greeks.

@theophilus
Explain why you think that. Also Greeks did not dig up fossils to date. Evolution came much later.

When will they get that evolution has nothing to do with the origin of anything.

The Greeks came up with evolution? Regardless, the evidence for evolution can be found in nature, and nature did very much exist at the time of the ancient Greeks.
They did not live in a vacuum of no living things but themselves, stupid.

You know there are Greeks today too, right? Right?
