I'm surprised some Fundies are ok with "Lord Of the Rings", I'm sure they've never read it. The fact that Gods never implied should be enough for them.

Actually, Eru Illuvatar is the omnipotent creator deity of Tolkien's legendarium, but he operates mostly through the Ainur, which are analogous to angels - and the wizards, including Gandalf, are Ainur, not men. Tolkien was a devout Catholic, and there are major themes drawn from Catholic theology in his work. JK Rowling . . . not so much.
