Oh, and just for the record, I am not persecuting you or discriminating against you, I am simply exercising my right to free speech
Sure, and if someone reversed that speech and made it about Christians you'd be the first to cry persecution.

And yet, the first time the government disagrees with Christian beliefs, the Christians start screaming bloody murder.

Paragraphs, kid, paragraphs.
Atheists would like us to believe that they are being persecuted because we live in a country with \"In God We Trust\" on our currency....and \"Under God\" in our Pledge of Allegiance...
Strawman. Persecution of atheism and estabilishment of religion are two different things.
this is NOT persecution....this is living in a Christian nation founded on Christian principles. This is the way this country has been for hundreds of years. It was not changed during this generation simply to make your lives harder for your beliefs
History revisionism makes the American Eagle cry.
. Stop crying about it....everyone deals with unfair issues....whether it be race, religion, income....whatever. Life is hard and it isn't fair. Get over it.
Feel that Christian love.
And here's some food for thought....you don't believe in God....well, I don't believe in atheists. [Long elaboration on the 'no atheists in foxholes' argument]
You've merely proven that only in times of desperation, when we're not thinking rationally, we resort to God. Let me make an analogy.
I know this house I'm sitting in can withstand a good deal. Norwegian houses are sturdy and well-insulated. But I'm still scared when violent winds and rains hit the area and make the walls creak, even though I know they'll never hurt me while I'm indoors.
Same with the belief in ghosts and big, empty, dark old houses. Or the belief in God and facing death.

(a) We were not founded as a Christian nation; we were founded as a secular humanist nation. You could look it up.
(b) Atheists find \"Under God\" and \"In God We Trust\" minor annoyances.
(c)No, we don't call out to God or any other imaginary being when we are under stress.
But, anyway, thanks for the lecture.

Atheists would like us to believe that they are being persecuted
Not at all. This is false, so the rest of it is based on a false premise.
Of course, atheists would like people to believe that you would like to persecute them, and are very interested in preventing that from happening. That's something different, though.

So basically you're telling us to sit down and shut up because oppression is natural for the minority.
But you're allowed to scream about being oppressed all you want.
And yeah, maybe I would shout out to God in desperation. Key word: desperation.

\"When an atheist is in a horrible car wreck and lies there dying, you can't tell me they won't call out to God in desperation....or when their innocent child is dying a terrible death by cancer, that they won't say a desperate prayer to God to help their child\"
Just because that is what YOU would do, doesn't mean it is what WE would do.

\"I think many people like to profess atheism because then they aren't burdened by having to live up to a higher calling...\"
Maybe I think you like to profess Christianity because you can't handle the thought that maybe, when you die, that's it. There is no heaven waiting for you, or hell waiting for us sinners.
If there ever is a time when I cry out to God, it won't be because I think he's there, but because I sincerely hope that maybe he is. I can't make myself believe in fairy tales.

Skwisgaar: Pshh, this is dildos. Doesn't he know there's no such thing as religion?
Nathan: You mean you don't believe in god. There is such a thing as religion.
Skwisgaar: Well prove it! Show me a miracle that religion exists!
Nathan: Well, uhh, the Bible's right there.
Skwisgaar: Well maybe I re-evaluates my life.

Life is hard and it isn't fair.
'Life's Hard' is only ever said as a less indifferent sounding version of 'I'm not going to lift a finger to help you', usually by people who aren't currently suffering because of said unfairness.

No. If I'm injured or sick, I won't pray to God. I might have fun cursing God, although it doesn't mean I would actually believe in his existence, it's just a way of relieving stress, and getting your fundie knickers in a knot.
