Quote# 24515

Actually Christianity is a great blessing to Americans... Indians too. They stopped killing and torturing one another and live in peace. Most importantly they have found peace with God in Christ and enjoy a higher standard of living....Like other matters spiritual, God had it planned perfectly and Satan failed to prevent it or prevert it. God's love broke through.

christianity destroying the American Indians was another in a long line of white-massacres of indigenous peoples.

They stopped killing and torturing each other because they were all almost extinct. And I just love how your self-righteous ass thinks it's perfectly all right for whitey to slaughter the 'redskins' but wrong for the indians to kill each other. What's the matter, your religion felt sleighted? Sure must've been hard to sleep at night knowing that other people are killing your enemies (non-christians) for you.

If by \"god's love\" you mean killing with extreme prejudice, then I agree with you.

deluded, intolerant cunt

This reeks of a different kind of 'rape apologist'. Namely, the raping of a culture.

5/1/2007 12:37:23 PM

Ten bucks says this D.I.C. (thanks Redhunter) thinks slavery was good for the Africans too, since \"those heathens were the ones selling each other to Whitey in the first place.\"

I'm not sure the Native Americans ever did any \"killing and torturing each other\" on a scale that approaches Caucasian history either. In some cultures, the wars were more like extreme sports; in others, human sacrifice was apparently pretty common. There were about 500 distinct nations in the Americas when whites got here, and we've lumped them all together under the \"ignorant savages\" label ever since. Somehow I don't think Jesus would appreciate that.

The indigenous peoples of this land did live relatively peacefully before the Europeans arrived. It was the Europeans who slaughtered them \"in God's name\". They were forced from their own land and onto \"reservations\" that couldn't come close to providing the resources and sustenance they had been used to. And, despite your deepest wishes, most did not become Christians.
If that's God's love breaking through, you can keep it.

I see that LovesLies stopped harping on the eeeeevil ACLU long enough to claim that the genocide of Native Americans by Christian invaders was a Good Thing. Apparently Gawd only loves you when he's done killing you.

Massacred people tend not to kill and torture other people. They also tend to be very peaceful.

However, dead people do not enjoy *any* standard of living.

5/1/2007 1:10:17 PM

Oh, would you take off the fucking rose-colored glasses? Christianity was the WORST thing that ever happene to Native Americans.

5/1/2007 1:27:35 PM

Certainly some groups of native Americans were warring with each other and expanding their areas of influence through violence, but the ceasation of this was due to Christianity. It was do to their societies being crushed by European settlers and the diseases they brought with them.

A perfect plan wouldn't involve death, oppression and poverty.

God and his love are imaginary.

Because we all know just how peaceful, joyous, and unmurdering Europe was in the 1700 years since Christianity became widespread there.

Never mind the smallpox blankets, land stealing, or wholesale slaughter by good Christians.

Christians have helped some people calm down. The Vikings stopped raiding Europe after converting to Christianity, for example.

But... a great blessing to the native Americans? The native Americans were massacred by the Christians. Their lands were occupied. They were driven into reservations.

Sigh. Right. A great blessing.

Methinks little LovesTruth here needs to get herself to an Indian Reservation, like the one I live near, and see for herself this higher standard of living.

5/1/2007 4:08:08 PM

Ah, God's love...it's like being wrapped in a warm, snuggly blanket (that's been contaminated with smallpox).

5/1/2007 4:12:53 PM

Scotty--Props. Good one.

5/1/2007 4:22:51 PM

I would like to bring into the discussion the massacre of CHRISTIAN Delawares at Gnaddenhutten in 1782, at the hands of American CHRISTIANS...
Guess that was just Satan, right?

5/1/2007 4:26:47 PM

The puritans fell upon a Pequot fortress on the Mystic River. After setting the Indians' wigwams ablaze, the soldiers proceeded to shoot and hack to pieces anyone who tried to escape the inferno. By the end of the day, approximately four hundred Pequot men, women and children were dead. \"It was a fearful sight to see them thus frying in the fire and the streams of blood quenching the same,\" Bradford wrote, \"and horrible was the stink and scent thereof; but the victory seemed a sweet sacrifice, and they gave the praise thereof to God.\" (from _Mayflower_, Nathaniel Philbrick.)

5/1/2007 4:37:02 PM

I'm sure the Indians really enjoyed it too. Especially once they were dead.

5/1/2007 4:43:02 PM

You mean the ones you didn't kill?

5/1/2007 5:06:35 PM

Sure, killing most indians off made sure they don't kill each other as much as they used to.

5/1/2007 5:08:12 PM

enjoy a higher standard of living

Yup. Genocide, displacement, trail of tears, the Indian Wars, alcoholism, domestic abuse, high unemployment, targets of racism, and the most poverty stricken areas in the US (e.g. Pine Ridge SD). Gawd really luvs dem injuns.

Like other matters spiritual, God had it planned perfectly and Satan failed to prevent it or prevert it.

How much do you want to bet that this same person also rants about how Satan has \"preverted\" America?

5/1/2007 5:48:25 PM

Doctor Whom

God's love broke through.
That says everything we need to know about the god that you worship.

Oh, and good one, Scotty!

5/1/2007 8:23:54 PM

Old Viking

A higher standard of living? Have you ever been on a reservation? Do you have any idea of the alcoholism rate among Native Americans? Yes, Christianity was certainly a boon to these people. You half-wit.
