Quote# 24519

How did anything change with Darwinism? A myth= a myth. Sure it's improved... Nebraska Man, Piltdown Man, and the archaeoraptor are known to be hoaxes since Darwin died. I can name a lot more hoaxes since Darwin died, but then that would be just too much improvement. Darwinism will improve some more once "Lucy" is admitted to be a hoax.

Go on, name some more hoaxes.

A handful of hoaxes (disproven by scientists, not creationists I might a add) do not magically vanish the mountains of real evidence.

A few hoaxes does not make evolution false.

Those hoaxes actually would be problems for modern evolutionary theory because their claimed timeframe of existence sharply contradicts our current understanding.

So you're suggesting it somehow hurts our position that we're willing to disregard evidence if it's proven to be fabricated?

I guess that makes sense. Creationists seem to feel that holding onto long-debunked arguments is some kind of virtue.

One, Lucy is not a hoax, and neither is the archaeoraptor(better thinking, it is, a creationist one, however). Regarding Piltdown and the others, they´re never used as evidence for Evolution. The transitional fossiles aren´t a myth, however.

It's my understanding that Lucy will be identified as a hoax during the Rapture ceremonies.

Sure. Leave it to a fundie to focus only on the HOAX portion of the scale...while the FACT portion is carrying all the weight and has tipped considerably.

How many hoaxes of the True Cross are there? Guess that means Jesus was never crucified.

And don't forget \"Glen Rose Man\", the Paluxy Man Tracks, the Olmo Skull, the trilobite stepped on by a modern boot and the London Hammer. Oh, wait a minute, those were creationist hoaxes.

Lucy may not be a hoax, but Archaeoraptor sure as heck was:

The experts were quick enough to expose the hoaxes. That's how science works.

Your whole stance, SlushGarden, is based on another very large hoax. Pity.

Lucy is not a hoax.
And just because people make up hoaxes, doesn't disprove evolution. If somebody made up a hoax that supported creationism you'd be denying it was a hoax forever and ever whereas scientists admitted the hoaxes were hoaxes even if they supported the general theories.

A scant handful of hoaxes do not invalidate the Theory of Evolution with its mountains of supporting evidence.

Nebraska Man was never accepted by the scientific community in the first place, for the love of your mythical Gawd. Paleontologists uncovered these hoaxes, not creationist pseudo-scientists.

And as for Lucy being a hoax...dream on, idiot.
