Quote# 24525

YES i think women are strong and capable enough to take hold of their own lives. YES i think most rapes that involve people like me - middle class chicks in the suburbs or college towns or in rural areas - are totally preventable. Im sorry but i STILL have no idea what part of my logic you people think is so crazy. Do you think it is just coincidence that i have never been raped? I admit that now (and for the last couple years since my last job) i am (according to some) a "bubble baby" and i dont get out much. But i went to college and lived in a college town and i used to go to clubs and stuff and i have yet to hear of a SINGLE rape case involving people like me where i didnt think to myself "man she should have seen THAT one coming WTF!!"

OK, based on the vocabulary, style, sentiment, screen name, and content of this post, \"fullmetaljackie\" is not a woman. He may wish he was a woman, (or knew a woman), but the person who wrote this most definitely has a (severely chafed) penis.

Rape Apologist of the Month? Or perhaps we should wait until something *gag* worse comes along?

Maybe Bro Randy will post another misogynistic diatribe about rape.

So eight year olds and grandmas have it coming?

5/2/2007 2:21:28 AM

Ah, the old 'they were asking for it' argument again.

Its like when radio stations play the same song every 20 minutes- except this dosn't end after 3 months.

TheMissus

Yeah, those college girls who get jumped in their dorm showers totally should've seen it coming. Dumbasses.

(FYI, I'm being sarcastic. No one needs to get on my ass.)

Goddamn, I read more of what that idiot is saying, and wow. She's a condescending bitch.

Seriously, she thinks you're an idiot if you can't tell that someone is a rapist just by looking at them. Yeah, like people can't actually hide psychotic, abusive or rapist tendancies. And yes, I very much doubt this person is a woman.

God, these \"haha! look at that girl, she got totally raped at a party by guys she knew!!!! isn't she such a moron?!\" seriously get me fuming. You'd expect us to have moved on from shit like this, but oh no, these sick fucks have to show their facs once in a while in their attempt to set women's rights back 100 years.

Sadly this doesn't have the same effect on me as it did when I first starting comming to this site.

I used to think that way too, because I've never been raped. And then I found out my mother was raped when she was my age.

So STFU. You're wrong.

You wait until someone bashes your head into a bathroom sink and then proceeds to rape you while the concussion sets in...it can happen to anyone. I hope it never happens to anyone else, but how dare you think that you're better than those to whom it does happen.

Because of course, ALL rapes are reported, especially at colleges.

And you are not a bubble baby, you're apathetic.

You may not have heard for a number of reasons:
a)there is a high proportion of unreported rapes.
b)Police, if the victim doesn´t want to, can´t disclose such information.
c)the victim may relocate to search help and avoid trauma.
d)That many of these rapes happen, in a higher proportion, in towns with more than 1,000,000 people.
e)that many rapes are committed by a person known to the victim, be it a relative, a friend or an acquintance, thence the need for confidentiality.
If you live in college and you went to pubs and so on, you must know that we´re not in the small Minnesota town any longer, and that people don´t gossip

The saddest part about this, is that if she does decide to go out and ends up being raped - she will blame herself.

Mr Smith

I seriously hope nothing like that ever happens to you because it can happen to anybody. Usually to people that have just uttered the phrase \"It will never happen to me\".

Don't tempt rape!

Er, the vast majority of women have never been raped, I don't think it's because you are special, or 'good'. However, it does happen, and no-one is to blame but the rapist. And most people don't go around telling people they have been raped. It, unfortunately, still has a stigma attached, due to attitudes like yours.

Right, that totally explains how the elderly woman asleep in her own bed was raped by the man who broke into her locked house.

Her LJ userinfo says she's from Michigan. I have no idea which \"college town\" she's referring to, but I've lived in enough Michigan college towns to know that, especially on campus, you do not hear about rape. The victims don't talk and if they do, the college will cover it up if they can.

\"Bubble baby\" needs her head punctured.

I have never been raped, but I don't for a minute think I'm immune to such a crime. And I don't blame other women who have been raped for \"not seeing it coming\" because ALL the blame should go on the rapist, not the victim!

If you're a woman, grow up and smell the reality. If you're a guy pretending to be a woman, get a life.

See, what decent people think to themselves when they hear about a rape case is, \"How terrible.\"

The vast majority of rapes are committed by close acquaintances.

You fail.

ok...a quick run-down of the people I know who have been sexually assaulted:

1. Not raped, but assaulted, in the front parking lot of a restaurant, in a public area, in the \"good\" part of a \"good\" town, in broad daylight. When the guy started bothering her, she walked away and he followed.

2. Rape was preplanned and organized by a man she had been dating for a few months, and somebody else.

3. Raped by a teenaged coworker, while at work. In a Christian summer camp.

4. Raped by a friend she had known for a couple of years.

Who, exactly, should have just known it was coming?

Right, so all those kids raped by child molesters \"had it coming\"? The nursing-home patients were \"dressed provocatively\"? I, though showing complete lack of interest in the guy and wearing jeans & a normal t-shirt, \"should have seen that coming\"? (For the record, I'm not even female.)

I rarely say this, but just for you:
Fuck. You. Fuck you and your apologetics. Fuck your idea that you can tell a rapist by the way they look. Your local sex-offender database is probably full of people you'd never suspect. Fuck your lack of compassion, fuck your \"I'm too holy and righteous to have anything bad happen\" attitude, and fuck your blind ignorance.

I hope you never have to experience something as awful as rape, because nobody deserves it. NOBODY.

You know, I don't wish rape on anybody, but if I did, she'd be at the top.

And by someone she knows.
