Quote# 24526

Disbelievers goto Hell, because there is no way purify them in the hereafter due to lack of faith. God alone is good, and is the All-Merciful, so its only logical that if one wants to be sucessfull in the after life, they need to ask God for His mercy. This is why an atheist's good deeds are like the mirage in a desert, they mean nothing in the hereafter, because of their denial of God (great offense and source of evil). To have a chance at sucess, one needs to at least. have faith.

Atheist don´t fear something they don´t believe and there will never be known in life. And you can´t love a God you can´t see if you don´t have a grasp of the creatures he created, that are visible to you. So, a blind belief in God leads nowhere and makes no sense.

Suppose an atheist cures Cancer.

Suppose another one settles the conflict in Darfur.

Suppose a third one manages to develops a way to repair the ozone layer.

Boy, won't this fundie feel like a dick.

Or maybe he won't. But that's okay, because everyone else will think he's a dick.

My, how epically merciful of God. You've gotta beg him for mercy.

In a situation even one tenth of yours I wouldn't make someone ask for mercy. I'm not an asshole.

When atheists do something good they do it for their fellow humans, not to get brownie points with your Big Daddy. The knowledge that one has helped is enough.

If I am cursed with consciousness after death, which I find utterly unlikely, as long as I'm not where you are, I'll be in heaven.

...fuckhead's using 'logical' and 'gawd's mercy' in the same sentence.

In other words, God is only \"merciful\" if you do precisely what he asks first. As far as I'm concerned, conditional mercy doesn't count as mercy; it's blackmail.

I thought your God can do anything and everything. I think he just dosn't want people who don't like him in Heaven cause he's an asshole.

Why didn't your god undeniably reveal himself to a percentage of the world's population then? It would be hard to deny something or someone that there is proof of. Since he doesn't care to reveal himself-just as the other religions don't, I don't care about your fairy tale anymore then the rest. Feel free to let me know if that changes though, 'kay?

Bad Christians go to heaven, good atheists to hell eh?
So... Hitler gets to heaven and Ghandi gets to hell. Makes sense from a biblical point of view (with God being a dick and all)

Not all Christians do good -solely- because they are interested in spiritual brownie points. However, Gavin is off kilter at two key points: According to Isaiah 64:6, a Christian's good deeds are equally miragelike. Also, hell is because EVERYONE has sinned. Jesus Christ paid the penalty on the Cross, and believing in Him leads to our sin debt being \"paid in full\" thereby. It has nothing to do with purification in the hereafter, or our own 'success'.

2, because he's closer than most of the quote authors here. He's still a bit off the mark.

Yeah, really merciful.

A hint, \"turn or burn\" isn't mercy. Might want to look the word up in the dictionary.

I think we should start planning the fstdt \"Eventually We Dine Potluck In Hell\" Meetup now. Since after death I will no longer be an alcoholic, I'll bring a keg. Anyone wanna sign up for chips'n'dip?

A mirage, eh?

How dare he say that a mirage means nothing! It means that light works in amazing ways. It means that sometimes, the way light works, you will see a flash in the desert and think you saw a resurrected christ.

God finds lack of faith disturbing.
Darth Vader finds lack of faith disturbing.
Ergo, using the Transitive Property, THE CHRISTIAN GOD IS DARTH VADER.

So, a person can go through life being a complete and utter arsehole to anyone and everyone, like for example Rush Limbaugh, and then on his deathbed he asks God for mercy and he goes to Heaven. Another person can be good and kind and gentle every single day of his life, curing cancer and the common cold on his day off, but if he doesn't ASK for God's mercy, he won't get it? Nice bloke you're groveling for, gavingoo.

I don't know about you, but giving something to someone when s/he least expect it, just because s/he is a lovely person, is MUCH more satisfying than getting something that someone expects and nags you about.

This may have already said and probably said more eloquently. I also admit that the phrase is not original, though I can't remember where I got it.
"It's YOUR Hell, YOU burn in it!"

Also, no good deed is like a mirage in the desert. You know that story about the boy throwing starfish back into the sea that you xtians like to plaster on posters? Try reading it sometime. "It matters to THIS one."

The fact that you need a reward, even a reward like kissing the ass of the Great White Sky Fairy forever while watching everyone you don't like suffer, rather than doing good for its own sake like the founder of your religion did, sickens me.

EDIT: Szenah and Hellbound Alleee, well said, both of you. Doomy Doom, I just laughed so hard I got Sierra Mist up my nose and it burns!
