Quote# 24557

This whole website is messed up. The earth isn't even close to your estimate. You say your scientist, but you can't even tell the age of a rock, not even estimate near to the age. True scientist would say that IF a rock was 3.5 billion years old, than it wouldn't have any oxygen left inside of it, and then you could maybe estimate it, but it'd still be very difficult. Every rock that we have discovered still had oxygen left inside of it and does not come of to be some million or billion years old. The earth is actually around 5-7 thousand years old. Please respond back so I can prove more to you.

P.S. If you guys also believe in evolution, the kind where a monkey turns into a human, or something like that, or if you believe in the big bang, I'd LOVE to talk to you about that too.

You're just a glutton for punishment, aren't you?

I have the feeling that his 'proof' is going to consist of cracking a bible.

\"Prove\" more? Yet somehow \"This whole website is messed up\" fails to convincingly invalidate scientific thought for me.

\"This whole website is messed up.\"

Translation: It doesn't agree with the Bible, therefore it must be wrong.

Mr Smith

Why wouldn't an old rock have any oxygen inside it? Is that the only way of telling how old a rock is?

Oh, and monkeys don't turn into humans. They just evolved from a common ancestor. And what do you know about the big bang that has escaped the scientific community all these years?

5/2/2007 10:13:33 AM

New rocks have oxygen in them? Hmmm, interesting theory. I can suggest a test for this hypothesis, though.

Apply for a grant to cover your travel expenses and go to Hawaii. There, you'll find lots and lots of brand new rock flowing from active volcanoes. Now, all you need to do is find a good lava flow, stick your head in and take a deep breathe.

Let us know how it goes. I look forward to reading all about it in Nature.

But as he wouldn't be convinced of how wrong he is, it would all be something of a waste of time.

yep, spoken from a true educated genius

YECers are always full of shit, and Ronald here is no exception.

Once again, YEC cluelessness is proven.

He posted this on Talk Origins, man he must be getting his ass kicked.

I love the comment that it would be very difficult to date rocks, well of course it's difficult, that's why the average Joe can't do it, you kind of have to go to school and become a geologist you dimwit.

Just because you can't understand something, or you think it's impossible, doesn't mean a professional, educated scientist will have the same problems as you.

Firstly learn how to use \"your,\" and \"you're\" properly.

Secondly, learn how to use \"than\" and \"then\" properly.

And lastly, its okay to throw an \"a\" in front of the word scientist, or a pluralized \"-s\" after it.

Considering you haven't passed 5th grade spelling, I don't see why these people should assume you've passed 5th grade science.

No Ture Scientist award?

5/2/2007 2:32:45 PM

Need to come back to science class?

5/2/2007 3:07:05 PM

Thankyou Justin for saying what I wanted to say (and with more tact). \"Your\" and \"You're\" (it's 'you are', people) really get me going.

Posting from the feedback section of the talk origins archive is unfair - the accumulated idiocy they've shown over the years more than overtakes what everyone else can produce, since they have been selecting for the most over-the-top. Evolution in action.

Hope that helps,

Mister Spak

Google \"silicon dioxide\". Then explain what oxygen in a rock has to do with its age.

5/2/2007 6:02:34 PM

Radiological half-lives anybody?

5/2/2007 6:10:14 PM

Sandstone has air pockets inside of it, regardless of age. Also, check out silicon composites.
Contrary to your claims, rock can be dated with a reasonable amount of accuracy.
The earth is older than 5000-7000 years, and we even have human records (in the form of hieroglyphs and tribal paintings) older than that, not to mention all the other data scientists have gathered.

Summary: Your inability to understand something does not make it false. You should go back to grade school and pay attention.
