Quote# 24581

There are good and bad in every society, even in Christian America. The abuse of slaves is another sin that took a war to correct. Even a good institution can be perverted and destroyed... sometimes the only solution is to replace it.

None of this changes the truth of God's blessings upon and plans for the USA in world history. We are sinners who are forgiven. That makes all the difference in the world. I rejoice in God's work in the USA and our loyalty to Him throughout our history from the Jamestown settlement even to today.

That is why I am celebrating the Jamestown Proclaimation... dedicating this land to God and to preaching of the Gospel worldwide. God has honored this dedication and I celebrate it.

Rejoice in the Lord for America's Godly heritage. Pray that He will show us mercy for our sins, and continue to give us freedom to evangelize the world.

\"Pray that He will show us mercy for our sins, and continue to give us freedom to evangelize the world\"

Eep. *hides under duvet*

Also, is this person advocating slavery?... :X

Except the official Jamestown religion was the church of England. Sorta shows that \"godly heritage\" in a different perspective.

They used the bible to justify slavery. How can you now call that a sin? But the babble has no contradictions, right?

IRAN could use some evangelizing. Why don't you go tell them the good news?

Ask any Native American his opinion about America's Godly heritage.

Slavery Apologist of the Month? Though we're a tad early.

Wha???? Are you saying that slavery was a good institution until it got \"perverted and destroyed\"? Shame on you!

Heh... he only condemns the \"abuse of slaves,\" not the actual institution. Abuse and slavery are inseperable - slaves wouldn't have worked if they weren't forced to.

Let's take LovesTruth, rip him away from his homeland and family, then order him to work all day in the hot sun for the benefit and profit of someone else who just sits on his butt and sips lemonade. Then let's see how he defines abuse.

Damn, have you ever read a US History Book? This whole thing sounds some of Pat Robertson's (debunked) made-up US history bullshit from his embarrassing, failed Presidential campaign.

Profoundly chauvin, and inexact. If they were so wonderful, why didn´t they forbid such a horrible institution to begin with(which is not saintly, for that matter)?, why didn´t they make like Canada or England or Europe, or the North, and erased it quickly, peacefully and naturally?

Flipper: That's literally what this is. Pat Robertson put on his own version of the official Jamestown celebration, where fundie fantasy replaced factual history.

We are sinners who are forgiven.

So why should anyone behave if you can do anything you want and just say \"I'm sorry\"? How does that differ from God just turning His back and ignoring us?

\"Even a good institution can be perverted and destroyed...\"

Is he saying that slavery is good thing, and it's just wrong to beat your slaves?

How fucking arrogant and self-righteous.
I'd like to sell this bitch to some Taiwanese businessmen on the black market. You know, just for a week or two, and I promise he wouldn't be beaten...much.

Umm, the slave owners (ancestors of modern-day fundies) believed God was on their side. They believed abolitionists were going against God...

They believed that abusing slaves was necessary, even godly. It's much like how fundies brainwash and torture women today into submission and having / adopting a ton of kids for them by claiming that's their only purpose without becoming evil for not being doormats and baby machines.
I know I'm not gonna be a doormat or a baby machine. I don't wanna be a slave, and I don't wanna marry.

I also don't think the first sentence of that quote, \"There are good and bad in every society, even in Christian America\", has to do with the rest of it much.

Evangelicals all seem the same....they all talk the same with bizarre capitals....

Funny. If you read Luke 12:47 you'd find out Jesus condoned such abuse.
