Quote# 2534

Here is one reason why the Authorized Version of the Holy Bible is superior to any Greek text, or any Greek manuscripts: And that is because it is in the universal language of the end time.Greek, as a language, is deader than last year's bird nest. It constitutes less than one percent of the world's spoken languages, and there is no demand for it anywhere on earth, except in Greece, and in the back rooms of dead, orthodox, conservative, Bible critics.

No, ANCIENT Greek, is deader than last year's bird nest, just like Latin is. Last time I checked, modern Greek constituted more than one percent of the world's spoken languages, and there is a demand for it, here in America. That's right, we Greek Americans make up a sizeable minority and we want to pass the language on to our children. Your ethnocentric bile is revolting.

So by this "logic" shouldn't a version in Mandarin Chinese be even better ?

Um... 'scuse me? Correct me if I'm wrong, but, uh... wasn't the original bible text written in ancient Greek?

May you be lost (and drunk on ouzo) on a very dark back alley in the worst part of Athens.

Ah, no. You see, assuming you're American, you owe your language to the English, true. But you pretty much owe your whole way of life to the Greeks, because if they hadn't won the Persian War, you wouldn't have a Bible to argue about. You would be a Zoroastrian.
In any case, English as a language is heavily based on Latin, which is heavily based on Greek. Thus, in point of fact, you owe your language to the Greeks as well.

So show some respect, you turd.

Brilliantly executed. :D

If the language in the King James Bible is the universal language, why do so many people bitch about how hard it is to read Shakespeare?

If English was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me!

Which of all the multitudes of versions is the Authorized Version, and who did the authorization?

Swedish is a very small language, but I am going to continue speaking it anyway.

Lots of people interested in history and archeology learn ancient Greek in order to be able to decipher the texts they find on their excursions.

I concur with the ones saying a Version in Mandarin would be even more superior. French and Spanish are also spoken all over the world.

Here's the thing:
It was never your book.
It was never an English book, It was never a modern Hebrew or Arabic book. It's ancient literature where many words are disputed even amoungst valid (educated) translators. Of the origional, actually used, scrolls yet!

If we're waiting for English to be the "Universal" language then the end times are a long time away. English is the dominate now but it won't be the same lanquage by the time it's universal, it's most likely we'll never see one language

Which is why that whenever people need to invent a new word, they use a deliberately archaic form of early 1600s English, right?

Your descendents in 500 years won't be able to read King James English, that's for sure, though I'd prefer it if you didn't breed, because the less KJV-only morons the better.
