Book of Genesis. You too easily dismiss this book. You should give it a try. One thing's for sure it wasn't written by wandering tribesmen in the desert. It could be the true history of earth, if you gave it a chance. I have some mathematical data on the Hebrew it was written in which demonstrates it was not possible for any human being to think it up. In fact all the computing power in the world would be needed to come up with what is written in it, and that might not be enough.

I have some mathematical data on the Hebrew it was written in which demonstrates it was not possible for any human being to think it up. I am sincerely curious as to what he means by this.
Genesis is actually the compilation of creation myths from at least two different sources, which explains the obvious contraditions. But if you have some "mathematical" data let's see it.
... Nah, didn't think so.
all the computing power in the world would be needed to come up with what is written in it
How much is all the computing power in the world, such that you know it is < or = that which could write Genesis?
Why is the person/company that has developed AI that can write Hebrew not famously rich, if you can compare a certain amount of 'computer-power' to the task at hand?
In fact... you are delusional.
One thing's for sure it wasn't written by wandering tribesmen in the desert. It could be the true history of earth, if you gave it a chance.
It is likely that it is a combination of similar earlier myths among the Egyptian and the Babylonians, adapted to the Hebrew god. There are hundreds of creation stories among the various religions of the world, most of them no less plausible than Genesis.
"Book of Genesis. [...] It could be the true history of earth"
Okay, which of the two versions of creation found in Genesis is the "true history" then? They contradict each other, you know...
"I have some mathematical data on the Hebrew it was written in"
I'm sure you could construct such things from practically any written work, just like some people "show" by using various facts/measures from pyramids that the old egyptians knew about the speed of light...
Which try?, that snakes speak?, that people live up to 900 years?. Besides, which mathematical data?. I need maths to make ends come, not to prove my faith. You either believe in God or not, and in any case, it's better not to take it literarilly.
Ooh! Let me try!
Once upon a time, the Earth was a ball of dirt. A wandering chinchilla came along and defecated, which fertilized the dirt and out sprouted a woman and a man!
I've just harnessed all the computing power in the world, you see, by making up a story about how the earth was created.
"Book Of Genesis. You too easily dismiss this book. You should give it a try."
I have, its part of the reason I'm an atheist.
"One thing's for sure it wasn't written by wandering tribesmen in the desert."
True. It was oral tails of wandering tribesmen in the desert, later compiled and writen down.
"I have some mathematical data on the Hebrew it was written in which demonstrates it was not possilbe for any human being to think it up."
Pleeeze. Genesis and the rest of the Bible is neither imaginative nor entertaining fiction. It's not even close in imagination or entertainment to The Foundation Trilogy, The Lord of the Rings or even Star Wars.
I have some mathematical data on the Hebrew it was written in which demonstrates it was not possible for any human being to think it up.
And yet much better, more interesting and more highly accurate fiction has been written since. Odd that.
In fact all the computing power in the world would be needed to come up with what is written in it, and that might not be enough.
Yet modern computers can run simulations of far more advanced ideas given just a week or so to crunch the numbers. How very strange that "Goddidit" is so much more complex than, say, the inner workings of a black hole.
For those of you who don't understand why mathematics is mentioned, check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gematria .
I would be curious to see these supposed "mathematical data" and proof that "it was not possible for any human being to think it up". Until then, I'll have to agree with NotMe.
Where did this "true history of the earth" bullshit come from? It's not the true history of China, or Persia, or India, or Greece, etc., etc...
It derives in large part from the oral tradition of ignorant-but-belligerent goatherders in the desert.
1. That data is ridiculously impossible to get.
2. Psychologically, the explanations found in the Bible make the most sense if they were written by people who lacked the knowledge and technology to truly investigate the universe.
3. Occam's Razor disagrees.
4. Church-Turing hypothesis: Given enough time and disk space, any computer can complete any task that a Turing computer can complete.
So, my laptop could , given enough time, "calculate the Bible" OR WHATEVER THE FUCKING HELL YOU MEANT.
In the beginning, it was a dark and stormy night, and it was the best of times, yet it was the worst of times. Call me God. The drought had lasted now for ten million years, and the reign of the terrible lizards was long since over.
It would be easy to vastly improve on The Book
Because it amuses me, I'm going to rewrite this guy as if he were Yoda.
"Genesis, Book of. This book too easily you dismiss. Give it a try, you should. Written by wandering tribesmen on Tatooine it was not, one thing for sure this is. True history of life on Dagobah it could be if chance you gave it."
Eh, I'm bored now. You get the picture.
Is he saying humans aren't capable of writing in Hebrew or of writing a creating story? Also, what kind of mathematical data would be at all useful in this case?
I just wasted way too much brainpower thinking about that.
Confused?
