Quote# 2713

I read the article, and considering that 59% of all the oil we consume comes from Venezuela and Chavez is threatening to cut us off and open his borders to base terrorism, I agree with Pat on this.

We don't have an extra $200 billion to dislodge another dictator. A carefully placed $1.00 30.06 will do the job just fine.

Bush wouldn't do that, professional courtesy.

I take it you advocate mugging as an acceptable type of entrepreneurial activity, too? Because that's the equivalent of what you're suggesting and the \"justification\" for it.

Kid, that is not very wise.

"$1.00 30.06"

is that a real figure or did you get this by slamming your face into a numerical keyboard again?

Confirming the rest of the worlds stereotypical view of America's foreign policy. i.e. Kill people to protect the prices at the pump.

So...you're saying that we should kill foreign leaders so that we can take their resources for ourselves.

We need lebensraum, I guess.

Because assassinating a political leader NEVER has major adverse effects. I mean just ask Franz Ferdinand!

Well, in other terms, that would be called "Armed Robbery". Doesn't make a good impression internationally. Such an action might give other nations an excuse when they for example develop nuclear weapons...

Still the question remains: What do you do when the venezuelan oil fields are depleted? What next dictator do you want to assassinate then and take their oil?

Would it make more sense to build alternative energy systems and implement energy saving technology NOW? This would make you independent from crazy dictators forever.

I think your 59% number is a bit high.
You get more oil from Canada than from Venezuala, we have (shudder) SOCIALIZED MEDICINE!

By the way, dickwad, it is VENEZUALAN oil, and, if I'm not mistaken they can sell or not sell to whoever they want.

Wasn't there some kind of rule that said "Thou shall not murder"? I read that someplace, I just can't for the life of me remember where...

"I read the article, and considering that 59% of all the oil we consume comes from Venezuela and Chavez is threatening to cut us off"

And yet, you & your ilk had no problem with your God Emperor of Fucking Up, George Dumbya Bush, kissing King Abdullah's arse for eight years, to ensure you'd get all that lovely oil from Saudi Arabia, eh Jerome?

Not taking into account the fact that Saudi Arabia has one of the most oppressive regimes on the planet. Whose Wahhabi clerics (via the Mutawwa) - and directly funded by the House of Saud - rigidly enforce their own hyper-fundie form of Islam, and have given support to Osama bin Laden.

Never was the phrase so appropriate: 'Hypocrisy, thy name is Fundie.'

"We don't have an extra $200 billion to dislodge another dictator."

...yet, Dumbya could find $2-3 trillion - to say nothing of the thousands of infinitely more valuable American lives lost in the process - to spend on dislodging Saddam Insane. Now where did he find that, eh Jerome? Oh yes, that's right. The trade surplus previously created by Bill Clinton's wise fiscal policies. Who was the only president in the US's history to actually balance the budget.

The following phrase never sounded more relevant: 'Clinton lied, no-one died.'

I know that Chavez already died, but I think that it is never too late to say: "Chavez was DEMOCRATICALY elected"... Deal with it.

The Brazilian

I forgot to say: "Chavez was DEMOCRATICALY elected... and reelected after that". In more transparent elections than George Bush´s ones.
