I see it a lot, but it fits here.

Am I the only one who noticed the paradox here?

Any evidence for this statement or just a "gut" feel?

"A baby DOES understand what and who God is."

I disagree.

"Its the adults that screw it up." If by 'it' you mean the baby, I agree.

David B.

Some of us are born with a predisposition to spirituality, though there's no evidence that our choice of religion has anything but an environmental cause.

That's the most culturally-challeneged statement I've read so far today. Babies gradually develop parts of the brain that allow them to "understand" the world around them. Unfortunately for you, your development in that area has been retarded.

All babies are born knowing three things: how to suck, cry, and swallow.

That's it.

How to suck, cry, swallow, and OBEY THE LORD.

No. An infant's mind is completely and utterly blank. They'll start learning about the world around them in due time but they are running on pure instinct when they are born. The adults are the ones who introduce them to religion when they become toddlers. A baby cannot comprehend something like a deity when it's stuck in survival mode.
