What's the belief that a head demon is trying to trick you, or that evil spirits hang around waiting for a chance to take over your body, or that calling on a particular deity will save you from demons?
There's nothing in Buddhism that comes close to that level of ignorant superstition.

Hinduism is possibly a survival of the ancient Indo-European religion, and might be distantly related to the ancient Greek religion (though only very vaguely). A lot of it also has to do with an early law code that, among other things, put the caste system into place.
Buddhism is essentially Hinduism with everything except the cosmology removed and an emphasis on social justice and enlightenment. Of the world's major religions, Buddhism is by far the least looney, with liberal Judaism as a distant second.
Fear and ignorance? Yeah, about that...
