Quote# 27333

Why does Hollywood push complete lack of morals as a good thing? Call me an angry redneck or a Bible thumper if you must, but only a true fool could deny Batman Begins is a dirty liberal propaganda. The hero of the movie, Bruce Wayne, is a moral-less manwhore, who enjoys drinking, parties, and company of assorted sluts. Not to mention wasting his money on materialistic possessions, as opposed to using them to help the poor, as the Lord commands. Bruce Wayne is every bit as deplorable as Paris Hilton, yet we are asked to sympathize with this man? He is a socialite, which gets him points with the liberals that run Hollywood. Granted, he is redeemed somewhat by the fact that he is Batman, a selfless hero who protects the weak from evils of villany. However, Batman’s training comes from Ra’s Al Ghul, an anti-Christian Buddhist scum. What is the film’s message? Christians are weak, and only non-Christians can learn to become like Batman? Also, Batman takes on the shape of a demonic bat, which is unforgivable. Anybody else feels the same way?

Accept the Lord Christ as your savior my friends.

Wow. Either Poe or an idiot.

Is it worth pointing out that Wayne's 'manwhore' persona is an act so that his dual identity is secret? And that he uses his money for protecting the weak? Or that Ra's Al Ghul is the villain?

No, it's not worth it.

So, the main problem you have with it is Batman's not a bird, then?

Yes, Bruce Wayne was fairly moralless earlier in the film, but by the end of the film that had changed. This is what we call a character arc. We can appreciate this character arc if we know morals are a good thing without having to be told. Why, exactly, do you need to be told, RYF? Or maybe it's that you feel you have a monopoly on morals and think everyone else needs to be told. Idiot.

"Not to mention wasting his money on materialistic possessions, as opposed to using them to help the poor, as the Lord commands."

So I guess RYF lives a sincere, monastic lifestyle and typed this from a library computer on the way to distribute the bulk of his paycheck to the needy then.

What a saint!

First, Bruce was never really moralless. He was lost, in pain, and weak. As such he was planning to kill someone while filled with that pain and weakness, not because he did not know what was right or wrong. In fact, in his current damaged state of mind he probably felt like he was writing a wrong and it wasn't until Katie's character came along that he was able to wake up from the fog that he had been living in. He later found his path and purpose in the world and became a strong moral character who cared for the innocent and was incapable of killing even the greatest of evils. He never enjoyed parties and the company of "assorted sluts." That was something Alfred clearly pushed on him to help him hide his identity and when he finally relented he quickly found himself in a situation where he couldn't use Alfred's rational to play that role for a moment longer.

Second, if you're going to call bats demonic and say it's unforgivable that a hero use their image to bring fear to the hearts of evil doers than you might as well also say it's unforgivable for the Church to use Gargoyle statues on their buildings to scare away demons.

Third, you write far too well to be so ignorant of very obvious plotlines. Add to that your overt username and I'm afraid I have to echo the call of Poe.

Yeah, a rich socialite not using his money to help the poor, why that's a sin! He could be a televanglist using his money to help the poor by buying political power(Pat Robertsin and Jerry Foulwell), or female whores(Jimmy Sweargert), or real expensive estate(Joyce MyHere and Billy Grabland), or staff hookers(Jimmy Bonkher). Yep us right-wing religious types really know how to give our to the right people to make sure the poor get it, RIGHT IN THE ASS!

"Call me an angry redneck or a Bible thumper if you must, but only a true fool could deny Batman Begins is a dirty liberal propaganda."

Well gee, that's not loaded at all. But according to your bible you are going to hell for calling people fools. Good job angry redneck bible thumper.

How is a rich guy who keeps a secret identity so he can fight crime "every bit as deplorable as paris hilton"?

Hilton is a waste of oxygen, Bruce Wayne (while being FICTIONAL) is doing something with his money instead of carrying around a rat with a perm and chanting "That's Hot!" like a string-pulled toy.

And someone already touched on teh bat/bird thing. Damn. I thought that was going to be mine.

I'm hoping this is a Poe.....

But bats demonic? What happened to "all creatures great and small..." - that does end with the line "the lord god made them all" does it not?

Bats demonic?

You have something loose in your belfry.

The pipistrels that fly around my garden at dusk are terminally cute little things.

Damn right! A man "who enjoys drinking, parties, and [the] company of assorted sluts" has no business becoming a costumed crime-fighting superhero. He would have fitted in better as a baptist minister or right-wing republican politician promoting "family values."

Here's a tip for you, RepentYouFools. The next time you go to the cinema, leave your Fundie-o-Vision glasses at home. You'll enjoy the film a lot more.

Probably a Poe. How many real fundies care about their own deity's command to help the poor?

I will agree that hollywood is a cesspool but seriously, with a name like "RepentYouFools" this guy is a troll. You get no kind of religious message out of Batman.

I bet RYF has never even given to charity either.

Wow. Now, that's packing a whole lot of superstition into a small package. Apparently, he wasn't paying any attention to the dialogue of the movie either.

I seriously hope this is a Poe.

It's well-written, it touches on things fundies usually shy away from (like charity), and he seems to know way too much about the film's plot, instead of just making assumptions based on previews & hearsay.

Poe. But still, in no particular order...

-The film's message was about a man who took his thirst for vengeance and channeled it into defense of those who did not have the power and capability to defend themselves from those who would do them harm.

-If you'd paid attention, the "manwhore" act is just that--an act he puts on for the benefit of those around him.

-How much of your wealth have you given away to the poor? Glass houses, stones, etc.

-Paris Hilton as Batgirl would be a great reason to boycott Hollywood, and I would stand with anyone who did.

-Demonic bat? Flying gerbils are demonic now?

Exactly Wayne's selfish attitude lead to his destruction and the only way he could redeem himself is to correct his mistakes by becoming Batman.
