Phewd: Actually its likely they know a handful but very much deny (or don't realise/haven't been told by said people) that they are.
Some atheists get a whole lot of "wow... you're a really good christian" or "he really follows the teachings of jesus well" stuff sometimes when they're the least venomous people in 'their' christian neighborhood.
Until someone finds out. Then "they were the devil all along" and are all but lynched out (though death/bomb threats and constant prosecution can be just as bad or worse) suddenly claimed as the cause of everything that's ever gone wrong in the community, especially everything the local priest might've done to your toddlers....
