Actually, it's more the fact that your Bible condemns several people for completely arbitrary reasons, and people choose to wade through the Bible, picking out the parts they choose to apply as a basis for their own bigotry, and enforce them, regardless of whether the person in question adheres to their "morality" (And in several cases, I use this term in the loosest sense possible.) See Prop 8, and how everyone who was behind it was completely unaffected by it.
