I have come up with a good analogy for explaining to stupid people how genes work, and why you're not half BANANA.
Bob is a baker, and Ted is a mechanic. From birth to age 20, their educations were the same. They learned to walk, speak, swim, tie their shoes, went through grade school and high school, taking the same classes. Up until college, where they both took different 3 year courses. Now, since about 85% of their educations are identical, shouldn't Bob be half mechanic now?
