'Universe in a Nutshell' was a very poor read. I read it last weekend and found myself laughing at some of the idiocy.

Three-dimensional thinking? Well, yes, he does assume that things are three-dimensional.

Or does he mean the concept of a round earth?

Either this is a fundie, who rejects any thinking more than one-dimensional or it's a scientist who thinks three-dimensional thinking is oversimplistic. (Given some of the subjects Stephen Hawking talks about, anything up to 11-dimensional thinking might be more appropriate.)

It's hard to say, since the thread doesn't seem to exist any more. I'm going to abstain.
