Quote# 2885

Do you know why the creationist students are failing in our highschools and colleges? Because most of them teach evolution! If you don't believe in evolution (or at least pretend to) you're history! I have heard countless stories of my friends getting F's on everything from homework to tests because they didn't use evolution as the premisis for their answers. They used God. That is why they are failing.

Can someone remind me why students who do not demonstrate that they are able to use the scientific method should be allowed to pass a science class?

Calligirl: Get some facts. Biology is just one course. You don't fail high school based on just one course. College, if you're planning on becoming a zoologist, maybe, but english, physics and math have very little to do with origins science.

Never mind that there are plenty of people who DO believe in God, but also understand that evolution makes sense.

Crosis: Because they're the \"salt of the earth\" and they're always right. They're not perfect, but they're always right.

Theological beliefs do not belong in the teaching of science.

Sometimes you have to lie to get ahead. It's their own fault for not paying attention in class and following directions. You're supposed to learn that in FIRST GRADE.

well what's next?

math teachers telling their students to solve for x, and the student's saying \"X is whatever God wants it to be. It is for Him to know, and we shouldn't question Him.\"

I mean...seriously...

This poster has just brought me the best education news I've heard in ages -- not that students are refusing to believe evolution, but that the system is holding them accountable for the material and flunking them if they foolishly argue against it.

You mean that schools test students on facts and reason rather than dogma? No, please, anything but that!

By the way, I went to a highly respected graduate school in physics, and I knew plenty of Christians in physics and other hard sciences. They just didn't replace science with a literal reading of Genesis.

Let's see. A student tries to make a scientific justification by basing his argument on the bible? Yeah, he deserves to fail.

It´s better that way than admitting that you´re a total ignorant. Even if benefitting from the knowledge you don´t believe in.

In that case, don´t go to college and study science. Science is science and the premises are clear. If you are not going to play by the rules, don´t play the game.

Or maybe it was because they can't fucking spell premises correctly.

If you don't believe in evolution (or at least pretend to) you're history!
And there you go! you don't have to believe in evolution. You can believe the teacher is the dumbest thing to ever grace the face of the Earth. All you must do is complete the course to government satisfaction. You do not have to agree.

In school it shouldn't matter what you believe or don't believe.
The homeworks and tests should reflect what you have learned, not what you think about what you have learned.
After you received knowledge you can decide what to do with the knowledge, not while you receive it.

Which is precisely why Judge John E. Jones III ruled in favour of the plaintiffs in Kitzmiller vs. Dover. Because the witnesses called by the opposing lawyer(s) made a complete laughing stock of their case. In this instance, 'Intelligent Design'.

And so, as a result, students using anything other than scientific fact in their work will earn them 'F' grades.

And don't blame we Atheists, nor anyone else, neither. John E. Jones III is himself a Christian. Who appointed him to the Federal Bench? The God Emperor of Fucking Up, George Dumbya Bush. Who elected George Dumbya Bush to the White House - twice? You of the Religious Right.

Therefore it's all your fault, Calligirl & everyone of your ilk.

If you don't use science in science class you ought to fail, stupid.
Would it help me to get better grades if I say "I don't believe in Math and Phys Ed", Calligirl?

Theology belongs in theology classes.
