Quote# 2898

The point of debates between evolutionists and creationists is to prove there is no God [on the evolutionist's side] and to prove there is a God [on the creationist's side].

Did I miss something? I mean evolutionists don't (at least from the evolutionary part) care if there is a god or not. Evolution does only contradict that the bible is entirely true, not the general concept of a higher being.

Swede

Evolution only shows that a god is not necessary to the continuation of life.
Evolution is biology, creationism is a myth. It's as intelligent and fruitful to put them as opposites, as to put baking and math as opposites.

anti-nonsense

the ToE doesn't say anything about whether or not some form of god exists. The only thing it says about religion is that if there is a god, he/she/it didn't literally create the world and life in six days as described in Genesis.

There are lots of Christians that also accept the ToE, they just don't take the book of Genesis literally but instead as a metaphor, or a result of human confusion.

...actually the point of Creationism looks more and more like a vehicle for people to convince themselves that they're as faithful and they tell everyone they are. Less a "debate" from that side than performance art.
