That's good. If thinking is too hard, let other people do it for you.

Is that a good reason? Didn't you also believe at one time in the easter bunny, the tooth fairy and santy clause? Didn't you used to wear diapers? Pick your nose? Don't you think it is possible that you don't have to wear footy-pajama's anymore because you've outgrown them mentally as well as physically? Grow up.

Cool - I'm a pile of vomit and I'm just going to lie here until I get devoured by dogs because that was the way I was brought up.

Believe what you want to believe, but at least have a better basis for belief than \"because Mommy and Daddy said so.\" That works fine when you're 8 years old and are told to keep your elbows off the table; it's a bit ridiculous to have that as your only (or even primary) reason for an entire belief system as an adult.

Finally someone who gets it. You are a christian because that was how you were brought up! That's been my point for a long time. If you were born in Iraq, then you probably would be Muslim because that's how you were brought up! Wonderful! You are the most honest fundy ever! Wow! There may be hope for you yet.

I was brought up to be racist.
But I'm not.
Know why?
Because I don't follow every little thing I was taught!

I was a christian for the first 51 years of my life.
I am now 73 and enjoying my 22nd year of being bullshit-free.

That is a horrible reason to believe almost anything. It's acceptable when you are 2-6, since your brain is developing, and you don't really have any sort of actual conception of life. However, it is a horrid reason to do something when you're old enough to post on a message board. Research the issue. If you want to be a Christian, fine, but at least give people reasons why you are so that they can be discussed. "My mommy said so and she'd never lie" belongs on the playground, and that is where it needs to stay.

Not really fundie; a lot of people are religious because they were raised that way.

Not fundie in the slightest. Doesn't really belong on this site, in my opinion.

When polls actually ask a follow up question to "Are you a Christian?" with "Why are you a Christian?" his answer is the most common. "Because I am" is high too.
That's how much effort they put into it.

Not a fundie. No reason to be mean here, it's not throwing tantrums or something.

part of growing up is realising that your parents were not always right in the way they brought you up.
You need to do some growing up.
