[Regarding gays in the Scouts organisation]
For many of our poorest, Scouting is the first introduction to concepts like honor... The first place where they identify with the word... And... They are introduced to the idea that there is something greater than self-gratification.
The militant gays and other leftists are not interested in starting their own "gay-accepting" young men's organization... Any more than they are in starting their own Churches.
They just want to infiltrate, degrade, dilute, and "tear down" the organizations that now exist.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with simply being accepted as ordinary human beings. </snark>
Why can't you fundies ever get your noses out of people's bedrooms?
I'm more concerned with keeping pedophiles out of children's organizations, and no, I don't equate homosexuality with pedophilia.
I was a Boy Scout until I came out at age 14 and was shown the door. By that time I was thinking of leaving anyway; the troop and its adults either supported or remained silent about the prevalent racism, misogyny, militarism, aggression, and just general nastiness so common in macho groups like that.
So much for "honor."
If we had to follow your logic, they shouldn't admit married people or involved in a relationship for the same reasons. Gays are normal guys who, simply, feel attracted to people of the same sex(which doesn't mean that they necessarily have sex with or even that they go sleeping around or interfere with their pupils' lives. Moreover, most of the times they don't even tell), so discriminating people for WHO they are implies no honour at all.
I loved my time in Scouts.
Mostly because of the acceptance I found there amongst the leaders and other members
(PS Girls in Scouts here in Australia)
There is nothing dishonorable about being gay.
Self-gratification happens among all persons, gay, straight or other.
Infiltrate? Gays are already everywhere, they just need the official and enforced right to be everywhere.
Dilute? As in "My drink's too strong. Can you put some gays in it for me?"
Tear down? The only thing being torn down would be unjust rules. That would be a good thing, Malott.
Poorest? So you're saying poor people have no honor and are only interested in self-gratification?
Bullshit. And why should they have to start their own organizations? If you did have honor you would accept everyone.
Not only do I think he is creep when it comes to acting like allowing gays in the scouts is some sort of evil take overbut what also bothered me was the opening sentence “For many of our poorest, Scouting is the first introduction to concepts like honor...”
I just think he is a bit of an asshole for trying to imply that poor families do not have honor.
Hello, from a gay eagle scout you shit.
Go peddle your intolerance elsewhere. I'd love to go back, but it's people like who would object.
I guess you don't care about children.
The first place where they identify with the word
what word? gay?
Any more than they are in starting their own Churches
they shouldn't have to do so to begin with.
Ah, the Boy Scouts of America... open to all young men. Except gays and atheists (the Scouts are run by Mormons). And the people without enough disposable income to shill out for the constant fees.
And this is coming from an (atheist) Eagle Scout.
In the book Boy Meets Boy, they actually do start a 'gay and gay supporter' Boy Scouts, I just cannot remember what it was called at the moment. Joy Scouts, I think.
I've been harassing him on his blog... he's almost admitted that he's wrong. Almost. He insists that gay children should be able to join, so long as they go by the 'don't ask, don't tell' policy... but, once they've told, all bets are off >< ugh.
Confused?
