Um, right, China never recovered from SARS and Toronto had to fold.

SARS hit Toronto hard because we have probably the largest Chinese population outside of China, many of whom are traveling back and forth from there fairly frequently. But when we put stringent measures in place quickly, based on good science, it was successfully contained. And Toronto is no more or less godless than London, Paris, or many other cities.

Our economy was just fine. More people are hospitalized with the flu every year than were in the whole SARS outbreak.
If anything, our economy boomed as the anti-germ soap, hand sanitizer, and face mask industries were suddenly flooded with orders.

Which is why China and Ontario are now barren wastelands devoid of all human life five years after SARS, right?
Oh wait, that didn't happen!
