As already pointed out there are numerous creatures that live on both land and in water (crocodiles and their ilk can be added to the list), but that is doubtless not what this fool meant.
I guess he/she is taking the usual fundie spin on evolution and saying that a buffalo can jump into a river and instantly turn into a hippo, if evolution is true.
