Quote# 30360

I can't understand how libertarian Ron Paul can gain so much traction among conservative and Christians. If I understand libertarianism correctly, Ron Paul's politics will allow me and my family to freely worship and go to church, while it will also allow the pornographers the right to create the porn to corrupt my son, so that he may get so jacked-up on the porn that he's not even able to listen to me or his youth pastor. Then, my son, being porn-primed, will go out and impregnate his girlfriend, who will then sell her soul and her baby's life away by becoming easy pickings for the abortuary down the street from her house that was allowed to stay open to perform murders-for-hire. All this because all ideas and voices have merit and promise under Ron Paul's libertarianism.

'porn-primed' is such awesome concept, I think I'll try to work it into more conversations.

"so that he may get so jacked-up on the porn that he's not even able to listen to me or his youth pastor."

No no no, you have it all wrong! Jacking off makes you go blind, not deaf, you silly bugger.

Also: Abortuary sounds like the name of a thrash-metal band.

That's the paradox of freedom that Sartre discussed in his life. Your freedom interferes and clashes with the freedom of the others.

I think Mark needs a wee bit more Teflon for that slope of his.

And just tell me, why should your freedom be given preference over that of other people?.

all the bizzarely exaggerated things you mentioned are perfectly legal now.

Am I the only one who thinks "The Abortuary" is a kick-ass band name?

Yeah, pretty much (aside from the abortion, which Ron Paul specifically is opposed to).

Also, this is slightly poe-tic.

You want to be free to go to church and forbid pornography? So basically you want the law adapted to your personal lifestyle?

Not what america is all about, mate.

What about trying real and genuine parenting, like being around to guide and correct your children, admonising them when they go wrong and pointing out consequences; and applying sensible love and discipline as require.

You come across to me as being panisc stricken that you have to live in the real world. Just deal with it. We all have to. Only we don't hand over our responsibilities to Gawd or his Youth Pastors. Nor do we seek to brainwash out kids into narrow-minded bigots who will perpetuate the hypocrisy of subscribing openly to a closed religious society whilst internally chafing against its puritanical restrictions.

Fundamentalism of the kind that blinds people to the errors and inaccuracies of the Bible, the fallibility of preachers, the un-love of its disfellowshipping and the hypocrisy its puritanism is terrorism of the mind. It stinks, and in my view it's anti-American. Free your kids from this mind control.

You don't quite grasp the concept of "libertarian," do you?

That's okay, a lot of libertarians seem to be a bit fuzzy on it too. Like you, they want liberty for themselves but not for anyone they disagree with.

I don't think "liberty" is in the bible, is it?

But anyway, thanks for the fun ride on your slip-n-slide, Mark.

Seems you fear your religion and morality are no match for the "merit and promise" of porn. But, if you really believed it, you wouldn't be afraid of competition, oh yea of little faith.
