Quote# 3042

Another problem is that one of the ideas behind macroevolution is competition, or survival of the fittest. Different animals in a species compete for food, and whoever is the fittist lives, creating a stronger species. However, many animals are part of a symbiotic relationship which is the opposite of competition. Also, many animals live together and hunt in packs.

Crosis

<<< However, many animals are part of a symbiotic relationship >>>

... because it gives *BOTH* of them an advantage over everyone else! I hesitate to use Survivor as an analogue here, but how far do you get in that game without having some sort of alliance? You've got to be damn good to pull it off (probably means winning just about every immunity challenge, or in the natural world, being able to fight off several attackers at once).

<<< Also, many animals live together and hunt in packs. >>>

Again, because they all have a better chance of surviving that way.
