If we 'evolved' from gorillas, they would be extinct. Evoloution is a total change from one animal or plant, to another. Last time I checked, you can go a see gorillas at your local zoo.

Of a population, yes, but that doesn't mean that EVERY population of a given species changes in the same way at the same time. Groups are cut off from each other across great distances, and the various populations respond to the environmental pressures they encounter.
We didn't evolve FROM gorillas; we evolved WITH gorillas from a common ancestor species. Our distant apelike ancestors had some groups that developed to become the great apes, and others developed to become us.
What the heck is it about this concept that makes it so hard for some people to grasp? YOUR species is supposed to be the more intelligent one!

My God -- thousands upon thousands of biologists all over the world, many with advanced degrees and hundreds of publications, and WE NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT! All we had to do was GO TO THE ZOO to recognize our folly. AT LAST someone has set us straight. Praise the FSM.
If we 'evolved' from gorillas,
We have a common ancestor. One did not evolve from the other.
Evoloution is a total change from one animal or plant, to another.
Evoloution is about the small changes from one generation to the next not a complete change from one animal to the next.
1. We did not evolve from gorillas, we share an ancestor. That species split into several other species, and is currently at the stage where there's humans, chimps, bonobos, gorillas etc.
2. There is absolutely no reason for an entire species to change into an entire other species. Rather, a part of a population splits of and develops in slightly different conditions into a new species. The mother-species can remain pretty much as it was if its environment stays stable.
Well' when your mommy and daddy... Wait, it's rapture ready and I had enough tries at futility. I'll pass this one.
Behole, the mighty triceratops.
Dude, its a cow.
Well, it could be triceratops.
No, it can't. They are different...

Last time I looked into a church window I saw a bunch of fundies. Haha, boy, were they up to some funny shit!
@ EvoPagan
I actually have a picture that I took of a sign on a church that says "If Man Evolved From Monkeys, Why Are There Still Monkeys?" The ignorance is staggering.
I have a picture of a church sign in Charleston, SC that says
"Queers and sailors keep off the grass"
I confess to having been a sailor.
1. No, we didn't evolve from gorillas.
2. No, they wouldn't be extinct any more than having a child would make you extinct.
3. Evolution is not a "total" change. Evolution is just a change, usually a small one.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
