Actually, if the husband wants to get it on with another woman, the perfect and unchanging morality of the Holy Bible provides an easy solution. It's called polygamy. Just don't point out the relevant verses to the fundies unless you're prepared to watch them have a meltdown.

"Help meet" is a fundie "KJV-ism". It comes from the KJV "an help meet for him". "Meet" is an old adjective, meaning "fit" or "appropriate". So the phrase in modern English would be "a help[er who is] fit for him". That's how newer versions of the Bible translate it. KJV-only fundies who don't know 17th century English use it as if it means "help-mate ".

Can you spot what is horribly wrong with this? I can see all the fundy husbands rubbing their hands together, thinking: "Sweet! I can be a huge asshole and my sex sl... er, wife can't do anything about it!"
If the husband is truly repentent and he and his wife sincerely want to go through counseling in order to save their marriage and renew their trust in each other, then there's nothing wrong with that, provided that the husband mends his ways and never cheats on her again. But it is pure stupidity to suggest that the wife should just put up with it or turn a blind eye. Forgiveness is one thing, tolerance of a wrong is another.
Newsflash, the husband made a commitment too, when he faced his wife at the altar. If you get married by a priest, he asks BOTH of you if you are willing to honor and love the person you are about to marry, not just the wife. Why is it if the wife strays, she's a horrible prostitute who deserves to be stoned to death, but if the husband cheats, he's just "being a man" or "fulfilling his urges?" You are a horrible hypocrite and are of no help to anyone.
If your God has any justice at all, he will provide the wife with a good lawyer. A good lawyer will help her kick his ass out the back door.

I’m old enough to remember when Bill Clinton’s affair made national news. I don’t remember anyone on the Right approving of Hillary standing beside Bill in that time.
Rather, a number of Christains i know or heard comments from maintained that she should have dumped his ass. And they were not going to vote for her exactly because she stayed in that relationship.
