Duck-billed platypus. Mammal, or reptile? Or transitional form between a crocodile and a duck?

what the fuck does a crocodile have to do with a duck-billed platypus?

Give the guy some credit. He's not insisting that \"transitional species\" are half-horse, half-cat.

Darwin's Lil' Girl

It's called a MONOTREME. Monotremes are special types of mammals that lay eggs, yet nurse their young. The word 'monotreme' is used because the same opening through which they excrete waste is used to lay eggs.

Mammal that lays eggs, the only other one being an echidna. We did this in biology class.

Table Rock

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's a transitional form between a mammal and a mammal.

And a duck is neither a mammal or a reptile.

a well known dangerous villain

Not clever, but not fundie either.

Crocodile and a duck? Silly! We already have one of those!

It's a mammal. Doesn't everyone know that?

Wait, if he's insisting the platypus is some sort of "transitional" (what fundies call transitional, that is) form, or that it's basically the equivilant of the crocoduck, isn't he admitting that the weird, twisted, utterly convoluted strawman of the theory of evolution that the fundies have made up is correct?

I mean, if they'd take something like the "crocoduck" as proof and then more or less say that they've found a freaking crocoduck, shouldn't they start believing in this wierd distortion of the theory of evolution they've made up?

"Duck-billed platypus. Mammal, or reptile? Or transitional form between a crocodile and a duck?"

Whatever, it certainly fucks up the whole concept of 'Intelligent Design'.

Even before Kitzmiller vs. Dover did the rest.

It's a monotreme, a mammal with some reptile-like characteristics. Which is evidence for the theory that mammals evolved from reptiles.

the bill is not very ducklike.

Poe. No-one brings up the platypus except Poes.
