I'd rather it be in the name of something meaningful like, say, humanity. If you only do it because a book tells you to or because of a fear of eternal damnation then it's a rather empty sentiment.

Jesus has done precisely squat in your life. If you had any relationship with reality at all you'd know that dead people can't influence events except in minor cases where crooked politicians count their votes despite their less than able condition to cast one.
