Quote# 317

Since when are diests not a subset of Christians? I consider myself both a Christian and a Diest, though I have a fairly unique set of beliefs. I don't see why the belief that God designed the world for us to try to understand excludes the belief in Jesus as savior.

Dear Dimmage,
Deists are just like those other Xians who don't believe in Jesus, like the Muslims and the Jews.
Deists believe in some form of a god, but not Jesus as a savior.
Next time you go shopping, pick up a couple of clues. They are ever so useful.

Darkmage, you've got it backward. Christians are a subset of deists, not the other way around. Deists believe in a god; so do Christians. Christians, however, believe in a PARTICULAR god; deists are more general and nonspecific about the deity's habits, affiliations, and identity.

Witty Name Here

Deism is the belief that God created the universe and has done jack shit since.

Some Random Guy

Possibly a misunderstanding; not fundy.

The world is perfect for us because we've evolved to fit it.

If you are going to claim to be a Deist, you might first learn how to spell it; then you might actually find out what Deists believe.

Just a suggestion.

Deists don't believe in a personal god, and they don't believe in Jesus as their "Lord and Savior", ergo they are not a sect of Christianity. A misunderstanding, maybe, but a pretty dang crazy one none-the-less.

I read this as Die-ist. Ya know; death cult.

Caustic Gnostic

The 'Creator' of the deists was both efficient and self-sufficient. Once the universe got started, everything happened in a logical fashion, and continues to happen to this day.

I don't think you fully comprehend what the word Deist means.

Deists believe in God, not Jesus. Hence, CHRISTIANS are the subset of Deism.

Not really fundie in my eyes. It really does take a lot for me to hit the 'meh' button. This quote is my first meh since Feb.
