Catholics murdered anyone found owning a Bible. Catholics aren't Christians. Catholics are a pagan cult. Catholicism teaches a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1).

Your bible is extant because of the Catholic Church.
Jesus taught to do good works, eg. "Sell all that you have, and give it to the poor and follow me."
Or, "By their fruits ye shall know them"
James, the brother of Jesus, disagreed with Paul, eg. "Faith without works is dead" or "show me your works and I will show you your faith"
You are misled. You teach false doctrine.
You reject the religion that preserved the bible for your pathetic fundyism. It also gave you the doctrine of the trinity.
Why am I wasting breath on you. Fuck you.
The whole thread is full of people who know nothing about the history of the bible.
one girl says :"The King James Bible was written well before the Catholic Church came into existence."
lol and her sources:"The teachings of the King James Bible and my Baptist church."
It's sad when I know more about someones religion then they do. *sigh* Its like they live in a world all their own
When Catholics were the only Christians, only the clergy and the extremely wealthy owned Bibles. That was before the invention of the printing press, ever hear of it? Did you know that Bibles had to be hand-written before that and weren't exactly available to any Baptist who walked into a bookstore?
Catholicism teaches a false gospel of works ...
Where is Chris getting this from? Jack Chick? The Catholic Church said at the Council of Trent:
If any one saith, that man may be justified before God by his own works, whether done through the teaching of human nature, or that of the law*, without the grace of God through Jesus Christ; let him be anathema."
* "law" in this case means performance of religious rituals
Luther's "sola fide" means "faith is required "; not "faith is sufficient ". Otherwise, that would directly contradict James 2, which says "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only". The Catholic Church doesn't say one can earn salvation through works. It says salvation can only be granted by the grace of God. But it says you can lose salvation without works. In other words, Hitler can't get into heaven just by kissing Jesus' butt on his death bed. He has to kiss Jesus' butt and live a certain way, too, just as it says in James.
Protestants believe the same thing, but they fudge the definition of faith to include works: if you behave badly, you don't really have faith; because if you really believed God sees you when you're sleeping and knows when you're awake, you'd be good (for goodness sake!).
I own a bible. Basically, I got it in my youth and kept it because I like to know if the batshit fundies talk about is really there. It runs about 40/60 in my experience.
More to the point...I had sex with a catholic. They probably saw the bible on the shelf while they were in the house. They didn't kill me.
So...consider that one disproved.
I quote Willy Wonka;
You LOSE! Good day sir!
All things considered, a gospel of works tends to be much better for producing charity that actually helps people than a gospel of faith alone. Granted the Catholic Church is run by a hierarchy of petty, rules-obsessed, out-of-touch old closet cases, but the RCC has produced an awful lot of truly awesome social services infrastructure, even if the hierarchy has a habit of screwing things up by putting faith over medical science.
On the other hand, show me one independent fundamental Baptist church that has ever created an outreach that didn't involve trying to convert people. Seems to me there's very few Habitat for Humanities coming out of the Holy Rollers in comparison with the large number of tracting and missionary groups. Jesus weeps at your shallowness.
Fundies must be envious. After all, they display a bloodlust of wanting to murder those thatP:
A: Don't own Bible's (KJV of course!)
B: Think for themselves
C: Gays/Bi-sexuals/Trans-sexuals/Trans-Gendered
D: Anyone that does not think like them
Maybe by "owning" the bible he means insulting it and pointing out its contradictions
like lol fag. you just got ownd.
I know pwnd is more common, but he's probably not cool enough to know it.
Ah, Galatians.
Paul's first letters to the Galatians were to a group he'd preached to before, who were being subverted by a heretic. When he says:
"As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!" Galatians 1:9, NIV - www.biblegateway.com
... he's talking to specific people about a specific doctrine they DID already accept. He's not writing a blank check for you folks to take out of context as a universal excuse for willful ignorance.
God, this shit isn't even funny anymore.
And once again, dumbfuck; what on earth does the passage in Galatians have to do with Roman Catholicism? Also, the Catholic Church gave you your Bible, bitch.
The whole 'saved by works' doctrine is partially true; but we also believe in grace by faith. We just believe that grace can be lost if the Christian doesn't live up to the Gospel teachings (such as charitability, kindness, tolerence and following the 10 Commandments). I mean, God forbid anyone actually live up to their faith, rather than be Baptised/Saved and then just think they can get away with anything because they're "OMG saved!1!1!eleventyone".
a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell
Revelation 20:12 disagrees.
The people who wrote the Bible were Catholics, the people who revised and recompiled the Bible were Catholics, the people who stayed with the traditional Bible and didn't "bastardize" it into protestantism were Catholics.
Wasn't there some dude in the Bible that said "Tha which you do to the least of my people, you do unto me"? Doesn't that imply that some works are needed too, in addition to lip-service?
But of course; you don't believe in that hippie liberal softie, you are a Paulite/Calvinite through and through, right?
Confused?
