Quote# 31740

The King James Bible was written well before the Catholic Church came into existence. The protestants base their faith on this Bible, which was written through the apostles by God.

Yeah... More than a thousand years says you're DEAD WRONG on that one.

I... but... ?...

I simply cannot wrap my mind around the idea that anyone with a half-way functioning brain - which this must be to be able to type legible words onto a computer - can be so wilfully, deludedly ignorant. How? More importantly, why?

I had faith in the human species, once upon a time...

I'll take re-writing history for $500 Alex.

11/29/2007 8:39:39 PM

Uh huh.... Protesting against whom?

11/29/2007 8:41:56 PM

He can't be serious, he just can't, there is no possible way anybody could be that completely ignorant about basic history. Unless of course they are profoundly mentally retarded which this person doesn't appear to be.

11/29/2007 8:42:34 PM

Did your idiot preacher tell you that or did you pull that one from the same place fundies usually do? It was written in the 16th Century, by a bunch of Protestant scholars (who had a definite politcal agenda) at the behest of a homosexual king. And the Roman Catholic Church had been in existence a LONG time before that!

Dear ifcgurl68,

History revision much?

11/29/2007 8:50:21 PM

Teh English have existed forever. Imagine how PO'ed the French guy in Monty Python's Quest For the Holy Grail must be.

11/29/2007 8:51:21 PM

So, ifcgurl68, any more wonderful enlightening tidbits for us intellecutally deprived souls to chew on? Maybe next you'll tell us that we all speak perfect Elizabethan English, or that the KJB contains no contradictions!

11/29/2007 8:52:03 PM

The fuck you say?

11/29/2007 9:01:44 PM

WHAT did you just say?

11/29/2007 9:03:58 PM

Let's see ...

Catholic Church ... 325 A.D.. (If you start counting with the Council of Nicaea.)

King James Bible ... 1611 A.D..

I think you need to look up the definition of "before."

Sometimes, ya just gots ta shake yer head, chuckle, and walk away...

Caustic Gnostic

Who is teaching this gurl?

11/29/2007 9:27:38 PM

Is there some kind of fundie doctrine that claims the KJV was written in heaven as the events described happened? That's the only explanation I can think of.

11/29/2007 9:31:59 PM

Jack Bauer

To be tis stupid she must have had some sort of special training.

11/29/2007 9:42:04 PM

That would be a rather large NO(by about 1200 years).

11/29/2007 9:50:44 PM

Okay...even other die-hard idiot Christians would find THAT shit hard to swallow.

11/29/2007 9:51:04 PM

KJV: Dated 17th century
Catholic Church: Dated 5th century.

11/29/2007 9:51:20 PM

The books of the Bible were pretty much settled on by the Catholic Church in the fourth century, except for continued disputes about Revelation, James and a couple of others. Protestantism began in Germany in the 1500's (The Reformation). Luther nailed his "95 theses" on the church door in Germany in the early 1500's, so Protestantism could hardly have been based on an English Bible written in 1611. And most of the New Testament translation in the KJV was actually copied from a translation done in the 1500's by William Tyndale, a Catholic who was burned at the stake for his efforts.

Let's do the time warp again.

11/29/2007 10:28:37 PM

The KJV was written at the behest of King James, in order to start his own church. He did this because the pope would not grant him a divorce.

11/29/2007 10:47:16 PM

Obviously. How else do you imagine people invented english?

11/29/2007 10:51:49 PM

It must've been quite a feat to turn back time like that.
