(About the Colorado church shooting)
It's my opinion the murderer will be revealed to be a non-believer. Whether he's a confirmed atheist or simply a former Christian who's lost his way I won't venture to guess about. I never said one word about the church being free of sin and sinners, nor did I say I believe in their mission. Are you pointing to the transgressions of a church leader and their 'pushing their evangelical beliefs' in an effort to say the innocent people who were murdered DESERVED to be killed?
See, it's people who say things like 'it's no surprise that something like this has happened' who scare me. Like I said... hate breeds hate. And it seems to breed exceedingly well among people with no belief in God.

It happened to be a former attendant of the church. You see, the worst enemy of a Christian is another dissenting one. If the world were full of atheist, buddhist or muslims, you could sigh with a relative relief.
Nominate for 'No Longer A Scotsman'[*] Award.
[* It's like the 'No True Scotsman' argument, but gets round the pesky problem of the person you want to disassociate from your beliefs having apparently shared them.]
"I never said one word about the church being free of sin and sinners, nor did I say I believe in their mission."
No, but you did say the murderer was an atheist, an assertion for which you have no evidence. It's assertions such as that which breed hate. And it seems to breed exceedingly well among people with belief in God.
Too bad it turned out to be someone the church turned away. So much for Christian Charity and how a deeply religious family is the ideal upbringing for a child.
Nice to see you use the tragedy as a means of hating on Atheists. Some Christian you are...
I don't know where he went wrong.
Like me, this young man was homeskooled. He had a superior education that didn't include evolution, but more than likely did include frequent beatings (as prescribed by the LORD) and good creation science classes.
He was also a missionary and spent most of his time at church.
I don't know HOW he turned into an atheist, but there you have it......homocidal maniacs are ALWAYS atheists.
Just like Hitler.
@ Big Chicken Shit
Beat it!

No one deserves to be killed - but let's face it - fundies certainly say the same thing about people they disagree with.
I've been waiting for the vultures to circle on this one.
I had a hunch it would turn out to be a disgruntled member of the church, but these morons would try to pin the blame on an atheist/non-believer.
It's what they do. After all, the jails are full of atheists. </snark>
EDIT: Osiris beat me to it.

"It's my opinion the murderer will be revealed to be a non-believer"
And when it turns out to be one of you fundtards, your opinion still will not change.
@BCD: HAH! Man, that's hilarious. You're getting better at this.
@OP: Sorry, he was a disgruntled church-goer. A Christian. You may engage your "No True Christian" defenses now.
As for hate breeding amongst non-believers, I'd like you to explain why less than 5% of all prison inmates are atheist/agnostic.
If this is correct, than it would appear that the shooter was no longer "a believer".
But, this doesn't make the OPs assumptions valid.
'See, it's people who say things like 'it's no surprise that something like this has happened' who scare me'
Why single out those people? I bet that everybody scares you.
You can say that about Timothy McVeigh, Dylan Klebold, Glenn Miller, and the people in the KKK and the abortion clinic bombers... oh wait, you can't. They all believed in God and were in one way or the other Christians.
"According to investigators, Murray descended into anti-Christian derangement over a period of several months, and his web-postings became increasingly violent, despondent and hateful. Some of the users tried to counsel Murray and one psychologist even offered her services after reading his poem called "Crying all alone in pain in the nightmare of Christianity." Murray refused her offer.[19] After the killing, police found a letter addressed "To God" by Murray in his car. The letter was listed in an evidence and property invoice of items that Colorado Springs police recovered from a 1992 Toyota Camry belonging to Matthew Murray. The documents were obtained by Newsradio 850 KOA. The note to God was found in the rear passenger seat, along with two books: "I Had to Say Something" by Mike Jones and "Serial Murderers and Their Victims" by Eric W. Hickey, according to the invoice.[24]
In his online postings he cites psychological abuse at the hands of his parents as the main reason for his hatred of Christianity."
Well, smartmouth was right about the former Christian part, but then again being right about the motives of the shooter doesn't make the rest of this crap any less fundy.
"'pushing their evangelical beliefs' in an effort to say the innocent people who were murdered DESERVED to be killed?"
That's not the Atheists saying that, that's your folk, your church, your dogma.
"simply a former Christian who's lost his way"
You almost all do this, then come back and pretend that's a ritual of fire or a test of your resolve, it's neither, it's bullshit fantasy. When you lose you project it on others 'it's no surprise that something like this has happened' says the Christ follower who fell YET AGAIN.
Confused?
