I'm not particularly religious.
But, I know fools when I see them.
The foolishness of idiot eggheads is always astonishing to behold.
The hell you will create will be right here on earth. The idiot eggheads have done it before. One might well argue that the overwhelming lesson of the 20th century was that the vanity of the eggheads is lethal. The Bolsheviks, the Nazis, Pol Pot, Mao... these were the great idealistic movements of the eggheads.
You're doing it again fools.
Incredible, how stupid intellectuals can be. This board is hilarious proof of just what cretins eggheads can be.

An egghead I may be, Mr. Thomas, but at least I'm not so hard boiled as you.
I always thought Egghead was a synonym of Geek anyway, in which case, I'll take it as a compliment.
You're posting this on the internet using a computer?
If you wish to see a fool in all his glory, look carefully into a mirror.
Of course, they caused all the evils in the world.................except computers, antibiotics, cars, central heating..............
So, because intellectualism and rational thought have occasionally produced bad ideas, or good ideas that turned bad, we should just avoid it altogether? Simply stop thinking at all? Self-destructive madness. If you really think that humanity's higher brain functions, which are barely adequate to serve our purposes as it is, are simply too much of a burden, I recommend you get yourself an ice-pick lobotomy. They're cheap, can be performed easily in the comfort of your own home, and afterwards you'll find yourself far less troubled by any pesky complex thoughts. Best of all, it'll leave all of us over in Sanity Corner to get on with making rational decisions and building a better world. There will be failures, yes, but we will learn from them, and so ultimately they will not all be loss. We're not jealous or vindictive, for the most part; you can even live off the benefits we produce. We might get pissed off at your hypocrisy, but we wont stop you.

Wait, in Cambodia weren't they trying to *kill* all the intellectuals?
Yep. All the teadhers, car owners, watch owners, scientists, politicians, ect were excecuted. This as for two reasons. The first is due to ideology. The Khmer Rouge felt that intellegence had watered down class consciousness and that, in order to live in a perfect world, the previous world had to be totally ended (down to the time being reset at year one), and everyone had to work in the fields equally (apart from him and his henchmen, obviously). Anyone found not to have calloses on their hands were excecuted. All technology was destroyed (except their weapons). The second was, as the Nazis, Soviets, Chineese and British found out, usually the greatest threats to a dictatorship are the intlligensia. We see it in Italy, Germany, China, Korea, the US and Britain. Thinking too much has never hurt anyone.
Oh no, heaven forbid we ever learn things.
If it wasnt for an intellectual, you wouldn't be reading or writing.
You don't actually know who Pol Pot was do you?
Right, Quick history lesson:
THe Kehmer Rouge lead by Pot killed 2mil people many of whom were intelectals. Teachers, Doctors, Lawers, people who wore glasses, people who could read.
You would have loved it.
You're living in a democracy that was recorded being concieved of over 3000 years ago and repeated (as a concept) at different times in most cultures of the world. This is equilvilant to the argument that a humanitarian system has never worked when one has never actually existed but aspects of the Western world politics have utilized its ideals by degrees.
Also, there is no absolute correlation between intellectualism and compassion, you can be smarter than all around you and still be a right bastard.
Also, all you named ruled by the Iron Fist method, that might equals right, not genius or idealistic but historically proven effective.
Yes, the Bolsheviks, the Nazis, Pol Pot and Mao all did what they did due to an excess of reason. Got it.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
