In Lord of the Rings many people give their lives to save humankind. Obviously they wouldn't do that if it was a lie. Therefore Lord of the Rings must be true...
Oh wait...

You think that Islam is a lie, and they have been martyrised too in the past and they have committed the atrocity of 9/11. And Socrates, he was born long before Jesus and carried out the same procedure. However, I don't believe he was completely right. Second, if you bring to homosexual people Jesus's message, be honest. Jesus, NEVER said a word on homosexuality. St Paul did, just once ot twice, not in detail and he's stating his opinion, not God's word or dogma.

Now you really think that they would give up their lives and everything they had for a Lie.
I guess the religion with the most suicide bombers is the true one.

Actually, being crucified upside down is a much quicker death than right-side up. Blood rushes to your head and you pass out and die "in your sleep."

you're not saved through works but through faith and a your personal relationship with Jesus.
according to certain fundie teachings.
And sorry - people WILL die for what they believe to be true, even if it is false.
And Judas suicided because he'd betrayed his best friend, albeit for reasons he thought were valid

People believe lies all the time. Doesn't make them true, though. Pretty much the same for your religion.

Judas gave up Jesus for 30 pieces of silver, but in the end realized his mistake, and tossed them back, and hung himself.
Funny... according to the Bible, he bought a field with the money and while he was working it, fell forward and his guts burst out.
Now you really think that they would give up their lives and everything they had for a Lie...We all know none of us would...so why would they?
The Heavens Gate cult must have been right then...

You're assuming, of course, that all the people mentioned in the Bible actually existed ...

I do not think that (s)he understands the concept "lie". It isn't that we believe one or PART of it to be a lie.. THE WHOLE DAMN THING IS.

Here's a hint for you. Even many of those who DO believe in God, don't believe everything in the Bible.
Hop on 'board the clue bus.

...now, about those WMD in Iraq...?
Btw, you might want to research that Judas story of yours again. He only hangs himself in one of the biblical accounts. Matthew 27:3-10 is all fair and well, but Acts 1:18-20 is far more exciting and gory - no hanging or tossing back coins, though :)So much for lying...

Us gays hear this all the time:
"I have nothing against Gays what so ever..Do I think the action of being GAY is wrong yes
Soooooooooooo....you say you have nothing against us in one breath and then in the very next sentence mention something you have againsts us. Look pal if I wanted to get a bunch of mixed signals I would have dated women.

Judas gave up Jesus for 30 pieces of silver, but in the end realized his mistake, and tossed them back, and hung himself. No, wait, wait ... he fell headlong and his bowels burst open. OK, OK, actually, first he hanged himself, then the rope broke and he fell and his bowels burst open.
Whew! For a minute there, I thought maybe the Bible contradicted itself!
Uh oh, "in the end we will all be judged according to our works"? But what about Luther's "Sola Fide" and Romans 3:28: "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." Maybe spiritofthewolf is thinking of James 2:24: "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only."
Whew! For a minute there, I thought maybe the Bible contradicted itself!

I suspect anyone who demands that I give up everything to follow them. I am inclined to refer to people like that as con men.
As for the suckers, I laugh inside. Poor chumps. No matter how much I pray, they continue to be chumps.

People can believe a lie to be true. They can act on a lie that they think is true. They can even die for a lie they think is true. And yes, I really do believe that people would give up everything for a lie. Some people are just gullible.

Actually millions of people have died for lies, that's why people lie, to convince others that it is true. What kind of dolt are you? A lie is obviously no good if one knows it's a lie!

Human history is full to the bursting with stories of people sacrificing and dying for lies that their leaders have told them, for the lies their pastor or priest had told them, for the lies their family and friends have told them.
Why do you think you are any different?
