Answer me this if GOD is such a mean being and sends you to hell for his amusement, why send his son to die for us?

Why set up Adam and Eve in the first place, blame them for doing what he knew they would do, and then make the entire species suffer punishment forever unless we kiss his ass for murdering his own son? That's one mean god.
It seems to me like people are making assumptions that cannot be substantiated.
The Bible is no proof of anything. It wasn't written down until the time of Ezra, after the return from Babylon in the 500s BC(E). That makes it relatively modern. Moreover, it contradicts itself time and time again. (Look at the genealogies of Jesus and how they vary - that's just for starters!) And there is no record of God ever coming down to give it to Mankind, and giving it his approval.
Sinai? Moses was dead (if he ever lived) centuries before the Book was written. How could he! It has been altered and changed to suit political and social purposes of those in power down the ages. It has been a tool of oppression and murder.
And the translations of the Bible into English have been used to push particular agendas such as royal succession, the divine right of kings, the inquision etc, etc.
Already enough.
That ties into it pretty well.
Besides, it's not like his son really faced that much fear in the bible. According to you he knew exactly where he was going. Not much of a sacrifice.
What kind of hardship is death to a being that has eternal life? It couldn't have been that bad, He was up three days later without so much as a hangover!
Now if God could just have forgiven Satan then he wouldn't have had to kill his son at all would he? I'm not all powerful and I managed to figure that one out.
You know, Yahweh could have "forgiven" mankind for transgressions.
Of course, what kind of dick punishes billions of people to a lifetime of torment for a minor and arbitary infration by two, all done before the two offenders knew the difference between right and wrong?
Oh well, I've given up on getting an explanation from that.
Answer: GOD is such a mean being
It's not the only bad thing he's done - flood, fire rain on Sodom and Gomorrah (spare only the man who first offers his daughtes to be raped by a crowd, then commits incest), raped Marry, enticing a father to "sacrifice" his only child ... well, you know the book better than I do
why send his son to die for us?
To appease his own wrath against humans for doing exactly what he knew that they were going to do.
"...if GOD is such a mean being and sends you to hell for his amusement, why send his son to die..."
Is it just me or did this person just answer his own question?
Q: Answer me this if GOD is such a mean being and sends you to hell for his amusement, why send his son to die for us?
A: God was pissed off because his wife divorced him for being a jerk and went off to be with a less retarded god. Hence the Jesus fiasco.
The twisted logic of a loving God sending his only son to be tortured to death notwithstanding, he did so to atone for Original Sin, right?
OK then. Reconcile the dogma of Original Sin passed down the generations with Ezekiel 18:20 : "The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him."
Traditional theology holds to the idea that Christ was a "substitutionary" or "vicarious" sacrifice. Christ took upon himself the punishment that was due to man. In other words, God worked out his anger by brutally killing his own son.
You belong to a human sacrifice cult, lonestar.
If your god exists, all the qualities you attribute to him suggest that he is insane and should be destroyed as soon as possible, both for the good of all of us and as an end to his own suffering.
Thankfully, there is no evidence that he exists at all.
One must really pity the plight of an immortal, omniscient, omnipotent being. It cannot derive satisfaction from having learned something; it knows everything already. It cannot gain material pleasure; it has no material drives to satisfy in order to maintain its existence. It cannot derive satisfaction from having achieved anything; omnipotence means there's no challenge or difficulty to be overcome in such achievement. An intelligence, faced with such stifling conditions, such a total lack of any kind of stimulation, can do nothing but atrophy and become insane, or cease to exist altogether. If your god were to exist, his behaviour would be symptomatic of a disintegrating mind.
Using biblical content to prove the bible,,,,,,
Circular logic, anyone ?
