Well at leats he [Senator John McCain] admits he goes to church. Rest assured Christians are being blamed for every societal problem in the world. The days of Christians being hunted down again are going to be at hand soon enough. This may be the last opportunity we have to vote in a president who claims at least to be a Christian

Last time we have a candidate that claimed to be a christian?
I'll take that bet, and give you 20-1 odds.
Rest assured Christians are being blamed for every societal problem in the world.
...largely because of the actions of their most vocal representatives in government. It's sad, and -disgusting- on a large level, but true.

Damn, sign me up -- what time does it start?

I sure hope so, because I'm really looking forward to my first opportunity to vote for in a president who doesn't.

All of the current candidates claim to be Christians, at least as the word is used in English rather than fundie-speak.
Oh, right, like how the pope said condoms are bad? Or the inquisition? Or how the religious right is trying to redefine rape in America? Or how the elite manipulates the dumb and gullible into voting against their interests under false holy pretenses?
Let's face it, if Christianity never had happened, we'd be a thousand years more advanced. Let's just be honest and say: Yes, without Christianity, the black plague might not have ever scoured the continent because even the antique greeks knew how to combat it but as soon as Christianity happend OH CRAPNUGGETS, HOW do we DEAL with THIS shit! I know! Let's STOP building aqueducts so we can't get clean water in our cities and let's kill cats because cats are evil for no particular reason.
History doesn't lie, history clearly shows how the Rise of Christianity gave rise to untold of suffering, cruelty, poverty and ignorance. In light of this obvious and glaring evidence, I'm still surprised that mankind INSISTS on making the same mistakes 500 times over. I'd honestly be surprised if we as a species live to see the year 2200.
EDIT: Now that the republicunts have taken over the senate, I'd be surprised if our species sees 2020.

That's just not true, you're only being blamed for some of the problems. Standing up for the Bush Administration didn't win you any respect though, especially since it was entirely because he and his gang invoked their Christ regularly.
Just look at the Tea Party mindset, "Sarah Palin would make a great president because she looks to God for answers"
God's a lot dumber than you people have claimed then.
When voting for a president, you want a person who has a political view that you agree with. I don't have the faintest idea what religions the people in our government belong to, and neither do I care. Religion is a personal matter over here, not something you babble about to anyone and everyone.
We didn't want McCain to win because of his running mate, Caribou Barbie, who's daft as a board, but thinks she's clever (a dangerous combination).
When were Christians ever being hunted down in the US? Weren't all the candidates claiming to be a Christian? Can you get anywhere in American politics without claiming to be a Christian?
As Christianity is the largest religion, it's just statistically probable that Christians would be responsible for a larger part of societal problems in the world.
Confused?
