(In an argument that went from 'Atheists are evil' to 'we should be able to mix church and state' back to 'Atheists are evil')
"Panzer, if it would have been my business I would have fired you for being an atheist. I just would have found a way to fire you without using your lack of belief as a reason. Bad company corrupts good morals and I wouldnt have a non believer work for me. Plus, why should I have an atheist work for me when there is a christian that needs a job?"

Were that to happen, this guy would have to be very careful in covering his tracks and making it seem as if he fired "Panzer" for non-religious reasons. Unfortunately, that'd be easy to do, wouldn't it?
Maybe if whatever screening process that would have been used to make sure the replacement was a xian could've been used to expose this bigoted prick?
Illegal much? And I thought Christians were supposed to be tolerant and moral. lol
Seriously though, I can't imagine that any atheists would even WANT to work for this guy.
Because it's a businnes after all and you need the best qualified worker?, because they're human beings and Christianity says that you can't be mean to others?, because beliefs don't guarantee a better perfomance?.............the list is long.
"Panzer, if it would have been my business I would have fired you for being black. I just would have found a way to fire you without using your race as a reason. Bad company corrupts good morals and I wouldnt have a black work for me. Plus, why should I have an black work for me when there is a white that needs a job?"
(Hate is hate, no matter how you spin it. It is hard to believe such things are still being said in our world today)
"Don, if it would have been my business I would have fired you for being a fundie. I just would have found a way to fire you without using your lack of common sense as a reason. Bad company corrupts good morals and I wouldnt have a delusional fundie work for me. Plus, why should I have an christian work for me when there is a muslim that needs a job?"
Let me get this right - you want me to go through the motions of "Believing in god" and "worshipping" just to keep my job? You can not FORCE people to believe in god (or anything) Believing comes from the heart and soul. It can not be forced. I can pretend to be a Christian if that's what you want so I can work in your company, but that doesn't make me a Christian, it makes me a liar!
Here in Canada evangelising in the work place is illegal. It falls under harassment and anyone doing so would be requested to desist or be fired. Even if you are, say, a waitress and a customer you are waiting on persists in evangelising you can request your employer have the customer removed and be barred if they do not stop. If your employer refuses he can be charged.
On the other side of the coin you cannot be harassed or fired for your religious beliefs.
That's grade-A bigotry, right there. And a dash of hypocrisy, too, I see. Inferring that only Christians have good morals, and then stating in no uncertain terms that he would gladly discriminate and lie about it.
@Garfield
Well, as you and more or less everyone here knows, truth isn't what these people genuinely care about, so obviously the answer is yes. As long as you let them believe you are a Christian they are happy.
I just would have found a way to fire you without using your lack of belief as a reason.
In other words, he would have violated the law, then perjured himself ("thou shalt not bear false witness") to cover it up. And he's worrying about atheists corrupting other peoples' morals?
This is like Hank on King of the Hill when he's interviewing job applicants. "Which of the following would you rather be trapped on a desert island with? Jesus, Buddha, or Golda Meir?" I think it was something like that. It was funny anyway. XD
I see the Holland Sentinel is a Michigan (U.S.) newspaper.
Pity for Don here that we have this niggling little Federal law called Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended .
Atheists are evil, and shouldn't be allowed to work. They should be demoted to the level of illegal immegrants, because they don't belong in this country.
Ah well, the rapture is tomorrow, so I dont have to worry much longer!
Actually you would stand a greater chance of being fired. Most atheists I know aren't out to proselytize anyone, unlike rabid fundies. I do know fundies that were fired because of violating company policy regarding proselytizing. But, of course, they screamed "Persecution" and where immediately reinstated, ironically, with the help of some of the godless organizations they vehemently oppose (ACLU anyone?)
@ Amanda, so what was the answer? Actually I could get along with Jesus really well. He would be cool to hang out with. He's not a thing like His dickwad followers. Most of the things they say about Jesus are blatant lies propagated by the fundies to serve their own agendas. Wasn't it Ghandi that said words to the effect of, "I like your Jesus, it's His followers that I don't like. They are so unlike Him."
Yeah, I want to fire someone, based solely on their internally-held philosophy on life because their morals are lacking.
Also, I like your idea Arcturus. Only all the atheists would then get edged out of politics, which would only screw us more.
Remember, a job for a job makes the whole world unemployed.
"I just would have found a way to fire you without using your lack of belief as a reason"
So,,,, not only is Don biased, bigotted, intolerant underhanded and a potential criminal,, he also does not have the courage of his convictions and needs a fake reason to make it look like he was actually right in his sins,,,, add 'dishonest' to the list. I suspect he finds it hard to keep employees anyway. During the whole of my (pretty successful) career, my religion or lack of it was never a topic of conversation and totally irrelevant to the prosperity of the company.
Because Jesus said to love your neighbor.
Because you wouldn't want to be fired based on your beliefs and the Bible says to do unto others as we sould want to be done unto us.
Because only an asshole would fire someone based on religion.
Because maybe God had you cross paths with this guy so that you could be a good influence on him (although how good an influence you are capable of being is debatable.)
Because it's healthy to be exposed to different beliefs and opinions.
Because he does the job better than the other guy.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
