I find it funny how an athiest uses very REAL OCCULTIC PRINCIPLES in this "series". I was brought up Christian and in my teens I got away from the church and started praticing the occult arts. I can tell you from personal experience that these "fantasy" books have ONE AGENDA and that is to turn children to practicing the occult arts. DEMONS are very real in the occult and are now called "FANTASY" by changing the name to Daemons, as IF there are a difference. Occult people will LOVE this movie because it glorifies their twisted supernatural beliefs, however, anyone WITH A TRUE SENSE OF MORAL OBLIGATIONS TO CHILDREN will not promote such filth. Take it from an X-occultist, this movie wants to BRAINWASH YOUR CHILDREN TO HATE GOD AND ALL THINGS GOOD AND RIGHT to encourage them to WANT TO BE POSSESSED BY DEMONS and to give children the sense that GROWN UPS AND MORALS are evil! I THINK THIS MOVIE IS A DISGRACE TO CHILDREN!! Human Sacrifice? WELL . . . KEEP READING!!

"Take it from an X-occultist"
- You did porn in your occultism. Hmmm. Sounds interesting. Gay or straight?
- DEMON comes from Greek Daimon, which is Daemon in Latin. Simple. No.
Keep Reading - but you stop right there. Now that's perverse of you.
"I can tell you from personal experience that these "fantasy" books have ONE AGENDA"
Let me guess, you starved yourself for a month and those books started talking to you.
"Yeah, like, I totally used to be into the occult. I was, like, part of this coven that, like, drank blood and sacrificed virgins and stuff. I learned how to, like, cast spells from the Harry Potter movies.
Yeah, I do a lot of acid. Why d'you ask?"
however, anyone WITH A TRUE SENSE OF MORAL OBLIGATIONS TO CHILDREN will not promote such filth
Methinks the pedo doth protest too much.
Yet you probably sat through the whole thing thinking it was your God given duty to give this movie your own little review. Bitch, if you knew the movie was going to be controversial to your views, why did you watch it? Obviously just to throw a fit in mock indignation.
Atheists don't typically believe in the occult any more than they believe in your delusions. Fantasy writers, however, frequently write about magic, demons, monsters and the BATTLE BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL. Sounds a lot like the Bible, actually.
" to encourage them to WANT TO BE POSSESSED BY DEMONS "
...No, ArdithKay, you are the demons.
And then ArdithKay was a zombie.
Well, Ardith, I bet you feel good after assaulting the CAPS KEY! Does it make you FEEL GOOD! Getting all that PENT UP frustration about a FUCKING piece of fiction out? Oh hey, Ardith, since you thought this movie was full of vile filth, I have a wonderful movie that you might quite enjoy. It's called "2 Girls, 1 Cup." I don't want to the plot away, but it is kind of a Romance/Love story involving the search for a magic chalice and the enlightenment that comes from discovering it!
I don't get it. The series acknowledges the existence of God (at least within the series' fantasy world). That means that it's NOT ATHEIST.
Why can't you grasp such a simple concept?
The plot could probably be described as anti-theist, which is just a valid viewpoint as yours (pro-stupid?). If y'all would stop Hating in the Name of God, then everyone else might not hate your God so much.
But the movie is not atheist. Believe it or not, atheists don't want to kill God, because they don't think he exists, and they don't want possess your children with demons because they don't believe in those either. Try again.
I don't see what is so hard about this? If you think that watching this movie would be damaging to the narrow view of the world you've instilled in your child, then don't take your child to it. I think it's disgraceful that you're teaching your child not to think, to hold onto generations of prejudices because that's what the mystical sky daddy says, but I guess that's your right as parent. It is not your right, however, to tell other people what their kids should be watching, and once again - a movie review is not the appropriate place to be doing so.
Especially because I doubt you've seen the movie.
"as IF there are a difference"
Somehow, excessive grammatical errors and CAPITAL WORDS OF UNDENIABLE TRUTH don't really help your case...
Hmm... unless they changed the movie a lot from the book...
Lyra: Pan, wtf are you doing?
Pantalaimon: I'm in ur head, posessing ur brainz.
Human Sacrifice?
Isn't that part near the end of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John?
Right after the ritual canibalism scene?

REAL OCCULTIC PRACTICES
fwahahah
Hey, I just found something interesting... ChristianForums has an "ArdithKay" with a suspiciously similar typing style.
(It should also be noted that this is AK's only review on the site.)
Sweet baby Zoroaster, IT. IS. A. KIDS'. MOVIE. If a kids' movie is causing you to question your faith, it probably wasn't all that strong to begin with, and a group of Catholic bishops has said that it's an okay movie to see.
Yet another idiot fundie that hates fiction because they can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality.
Newsflash, the books and the movie are FICTION and were never intended to be anything other then FICTION with a bit of commentary about the abuse of organized religion, particularly the Catholic church, given that you don't LIKE the Catholic church, what the fuck are you whining about? The daemons, witches etc are entirely FICTIONAL and have nothing to do with reality!
Anyone who goes out and tries to cast spells because they read Harry Potter, the golden compass, etc, is a complete idiot.
Oh, yeah. And C. S. Lewis wanted that very same thing, didn't he? After all, he's the one that got a lot of kids started on fantasy. Yep, that damned occult is just hiding EVERYWHERE, isn't it?
You know, Jesus Christ told a lot of stories. And he did a great many things that occult practitioners claim they can do. Gasp! Christianity is the occult! RUN!!!!
Grow up. Go back to school, graduate this time, go to college, and stay there until someone explains the word "Mythopoetic" to you.
Human Sacrifice? WELL . . . KEEP READING!!
If it's human sacrifice you're after, you need read no further than the New Testament.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
