The government should be an extension of the church.

No. That's already been tried. Led to The Crusades, the Inquisition, witch hunts, and hundreds of years of violence across Europe.
Those who don't remember history are doomed to repeat it.
Those who remember history are doomed to say, "I told you so."
They have that.
It's called Iran.
Why not move there?
The last time we combined church and state here, people were burned at the stake. The last time in Europe, people were tortured and killed. Read a damn history book. And the point of life is to enjoy being alive as per another post you made in there
Rearrange the following to make a well-known (on FSTDT, at least) saying.
Bitch, Of, Tripoli, Treaty.
how about, the church should be an extension of the gov?
nope, not going to work either way, religion can go to hell and stay there.
@Doctor fishcake
Love it!
It has been said, it will be said..
Even after we're all dead
The crusades and dark ages went with that position
And who will ever forget the spanish inquisition?
Here's the answer to that crazy pitch
Look up the Treaty of Tripoli, Bitch!
Ok, but I'll have to warn you, you'll be first up against the wall when the revolution comes. Religion + fascism = death for everyone, not just those you dislike.
I hope you like being bludgeoned to death with big fucking rocks.
Yeah, not so functionally workful, that arrangement. In Western cultures, that has generally led to church being ignored and religion being marginalized. In other cultures, it's led to insane tyranny. I think we can do without.
Also, there's a certain ex-CNN anchor who would like his name back. And could you please clean the shit off of it before you do?

Not to mention dogmatic, rigidly inflexible governments that were utterly unable to adapt to changing circumstances. Theocracies, compared to more flexible forms of government, are pathetically weak when faced with change, which is why they are dead or dying out in the most advanced states, where development is rapid and so circumstances change often and drastically. Once again, it's that little thing we call evolution.
no thanks i like having the "religious freedom" to not believe anything and not be forced to fallow religious "ideals" that discriminate against people, of course if it was a government based on buddhism then that would be ok, but not any monotheistic religion
Yes but that would violate our First Amendment. There are plenty of other countries where that happens. (Well okay, it's actually more like extension of the mosque but still, I think moving to one would do good for you.)
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
