Um, yeah. This is was an April Fool's joke at most, and the name of the fossil makes it a Poe at least.

Lying for Jesus is not the appropriate heading. Gullible as only a fundie can be is better(that they're unable to understand what SATYRE is, is part of their identity)

This article wouldn't my 9 year old self, since it's pretty obvious that the Cretaceous period ended 65 million years ago, making the 50 mya listed impossible.
Also, anybody noticed that Anthropologist Eugenie C. Scott is listed as a Biology professor named Scott L. Eugenie? I lol'd.

Meanwhile another fossil has been found in Anaheim, California of what appears to be a baby flying elephant with huge ears. Though there is a lack of feathers in evidence, a nearby fossil was also found of a very tall mouse wearing red shorts and giant yellow shoes. The dumbocartunus and mickus mousus appear to have been friends.

So you claim have found fossils of a trunk and feathers in the same layer of volcanic rock. They may have been found "close" to each other but that DOES NOT suggest they are from the same creature.
"Richard Dawkins of Cambridge was ecstatic "flying elephants seem very feasible to me. This fossil demonstrates clearly and irrevocably this apparent certainty". He went on to add "I knew we would find more transitional fossils, I can't wait to hear what the creationists have to say!". The fossil has been dubbed Elaphantavianicus Bigfairytalicus."
- Don't make up your own quotes, Dawkins would never say that, nor would and mildly educated human being; which you cearly aren't.

Wanna bet some of the fundie dolts(supersport, carico, rufus) we get here wouldn't buy this whole April fool's joke as true and quote it on some of their fundie sites?

1. The date.
2. That is totally not a transitional fossil, as opposed to the small horse prototypes and numerous wolly mammoths we have found.
3. Flying elephants would not be logical to any sober reasonable person.

I didn't notice the date. I didn't get as far as the fossil name. What gave this away as a joke to me was "professor Scott L. Eugenie"

Richard Dawkins of Cambridge was ecstatic "flying elephants seem very feasible to me. This fossil demonstrates clearly and irrevocably this apparent certainty".
Yes, I can totally believe he'd say that. No, really.
EDIT: While the post is an obvious April Fools Day joke, what about the rest of the site? It doesn't matter if it's a joke if the site we quote it from was written by idiot fundies who took the joke seriously.

April fool's morons. And considering that this is almost eight years old and I have not heard anything about this till now leads me to believe that this is an elaborate joke.

Fundies took that April Fool's joke with the human skeleton in a dinosaur's mouth seriously, there's no reason to think they wouldn't have taken this seriously and passed it on as a real story.
