Quote# 32928

"liberal" christianity is not christianity in the first place... You cannot take middle ground. You either give up all your life to Christ or none of it.. You stop ALL sinning or you continue in it..

Everytime you try to justify another sin you bruise and hammer another nail in Christ.

Liberal "christians" would be denominations like the Unitarians who think all are saved, even the unrepentant, also "christians" who support sinful things like abortion and gay marriage(which by the way has schismed the Lutheran and Episcopalian denominations, as well as many others),,as well as other things like sex outside of marriage, promiscuity, feminism, children out of wedlock, birth control, the conditions in public school, thinking theres other ways to salvation without Christ, and other forms of Satanic influence etc..

They are nothing but wolves in sheeps clothing. people who are ashamed of the gospel and just "go with it" because it makes them agreable to other people.

I didn't think Unitarian Universalists ever pretended to be Christian.

Osiris

Ah the Unitarians. A church for people who don't want to go to church in the first place.

Wait, so it's wrong to be tolerant and nice to people?

12/27/2007 7:51:44 PM

Following your stupid logic with all its consequences, your "conservative Christianity" is not Christianity either. After all, according to it you just have to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. From that onward, any sin, except sexual ones, apparently, don't matter. And conversely, you can be a nice person with all your hurt but..................no Christ no party. Not only it contradicts what Jesus said(after all, didn't he hang up with prostitutes and all sort of sinners?. That's a liberal Christian for me)but also it doesn't make any fucking sense.

Sorry you missed the dark ages.

Doctor Whom

Conservative Christians fudge on the Bible every bit as much as liberal Christians do. After all, who is capable of the level of doublethink required to do otherwise? At least liberal Christians are more likely to be honest about it.

Just because they're not a bunch of hateful zealouts who think you just have to believe in Jesus to be 'Saved', or pervert about 99% of Jesus' teachings, does not mean they aren't Christian. As for the UU's, I don't think they call themselves Christian anymore. I think they just used to be a really, really liberal Christian denom, but I guess felt their beliefs strayed a little too much from Christianity.

I know I'm not a True Scotsman Christian, but:

You either give up all your life to Christ or none of it
Those damn "liberal Christians" and their doctrine of 67.3% salvation.

You stop ALL sinning or you continue in it.
And you've done which...?

in sheeps clothing
Furries for Jesus!

because it makes them agreable to other people
You mean like, say, picking a name at random... Jesus?

Or maybe they "go with it" because it makes more sense than fundieism -- let's see, did Jesus die b/c he truly believed in a gospel of non-violence or b/c he was God and had to kill himself in order to appease himself? Which makes more sense to you? (No, actually, don't answer...)

BTW, Renton405, have you actually ever read the fucking gospels? Granted, you probably have the reading comprehension of a 3 year old turnip, but how could you miss the bit where this religious liberal shows up and gets up the noses of the religious establishment, hangs out with all the "wrong" people, commits acts of sacrilege and blasphemy, and gets himself executed for the heinous crime of teaching peace and love and forgiveness. Seriously, he's a pretty major character -- you can't miss him. Goes by the name Josh; sometimes spelled "Jesus".

Or to summarize: Renton405, verily thou art a fuckwit.

Wait wait wait ... Birth Control?! Even within marriage?!

Does this mean Renton405 has a Catholic-sized bunch of kids, or does it just mean that he hasn't boinked Mrs. Renton405 in the last 3 years?

Have you given all your possessions to the poor yet?

As a Unitarian, I was unaware that we thought that all were "saved;" as a matter of fact, I wasn't even aware that we cared.

The funny part? "Unitarian" in this context does refer to the belief that all will be saved (or all will return to God) -- and it was the dominant belief in Christianity back when people were reading the scriptures in Greek. The doctrine of eternal punishment is an artifact of the translation into Latin.

""liberal" christianity is not christianity in the first place...You cannot take middle ground."

The gospel according to fundies. THE middle ground! THE middle ground!! Say your goddam pronouns!

"Everytime you try to justify another sin you bruise and hammer another nail in Christ."

If that were true, Christ would be nothing but nails at this point.

As for you crack about Unitarians Universalists, Professor M gave the correct definition of Unitarians. I will add that the religion is also for those who have become discontented with our former religion. Thanks to shitbirds like you.

Okay...well...either God is a kind, benevolent God, and spares his children from the hellfire, as Jesus died to absolve humanity of it's sin, or he's your homicidal psychopath sockpuppet who runs heaven like a trendy nightclub. Which is it? Hmmm?

You stop sinning? Then what's the whole point of forgiveness?

'"liberal" christianity is not christianity in the first place... You cannot take middle ground.'
Literalist christianity is not christianity in the first place. People who think they can do everything in a self-contradictory book, are simply mentally disturbed.

"You stop ALL sinning or you continue in it.. "
Yeah, as if..

"Everytime you try to justify another sin you bruise and hammer another nail in Christ."
As has already been said, everytime you masturbate a kitten, God dies.

"who think all are saved"
Your tone is just sad. Are you really unable to love yourself without putting others down?

"They are nothing but wolves in sheeps clothing."
If you're a mean person, you probably think everyone else is mean too.

Ah the Unitarians. A church for people who don't want to go to church in the first place.

No, that's not true. Unitarianism is for people who want to have a church, but have decided that Christianity is morally repugnant. So they cut out the shite and kept the community aspects. Which does have its benefits.

You obviously have spent too much time reading your fundie Bible tracts(and Chick tracts) and not enough time reading your Bible, Renton. Nice to know that God died and appointed you in his place to pick who is Christian and who isn't. Oh, he isn't dead? Then maybe you better get on your damn knees and pray for forgiveness, cause look at what happened to the last guy who tried to set himself ahead of God(hint-it's very warm where he is) and he was one of God's favorites.

Why do they keep forgetting that Jesus was a liberal jew?

"the" isn't a pronoun, it's an article; an adjective in a sense :o.

I wasn't aware that wanting not to beinferior was a sin...

And "sex outside of marriage" kind of nullifies the "kids outside of marriage" thing... I mean, if they're unmarried and not using birth control, apparently they're committing a double-sin if they have the kid, or if they don't o_O.

as usual the sins this moron is stuck on are all the ones that only marginally affect other people, usually sexual.

There's so much else wrong in the world (starting with greed, and working down to killing) that could be looked at, but that may mean that Renton405 would have to look at his own "beam of wood"
