And when your breathing stops, it's God's will that you should die, so CPR is Sin. Prayer works better, despite what evil atheist scientist says.

This is just so, so sad I won't even try to say something snarky here. All of the people involved need help.

I feel pity and revulsion in equal measure for this woman. I have nothing but contempt for her husband and that idiot minister.
How can these three justify their behavior against an innocent child and still call themselves human?
How incredibly stupid do you have to be to become a Doyle Davidson? He led two idiots astray with his opinions and rantings. How is it possible that he can live with himself?
He should be disbarred or defrocked or court-martialed or whatever is done to ministers who fail to show that they have more brains than a brick. I recommend being tarred, feathered, and expunged from the human race as punishment.

Whoo.
This is so far beyond the usual (deluded but fairly harmless) nut-jobs we quote here that I can't think of a appropriate comment.

Defense lawyers have faulted her husband and Davidson for downplaying her strange behavior and cutting short treatment of a psychotic condition that began after the birth of her third child in January 2004.
John Schlosser testified Tuesday that he did not seek medical help when his wife told him she wanted to "give the baby to God" about a week before their daughter's death.
Disgusting.

The problem with those guys is that, even if their "deliverance" session didn't cure this poor woman, they would carry on on believing that. Unfortunately, they can't help what others believe(and this tragic thing doesn't help)

Doyle is a true vulture for God, exploiting death and tragedy to promote his superstition.

I wonder how the husband would have acted if she had said she wanted to give his johnson to the Lord. "Sure Lorena!"
Great way to become a single father of 2 traumatized kids.

"blood smeared on her face and clothes, a Christian hymn playing and a Bible open near the crib where the child was killed. "
Was it a KJV bible? If it wasn't that would explain the problem. Only the KJV bible is the real one, all the others are demonic fakes.

I sincerely hope the jurors don't swallow that twaddle. And the minister is charged with manslaughter.

Oy. This isn't even the first time I've heard a case of a devout Christian assaulting a child being blamed on demonic posession.

I just read some more about the case. Apparently the mother first decided that the baby was Davidson's wife and wanted to give the baby to him.
Davidson himself decided in the eighties that some other guy's wife had been given to him by God and he's been pursuing her all that time. He wants her to obey God's will and come live with him.
Somehow I don't think the founding fathers foresaw "freedom of religion" being used to protect the batshit insane.

I know a guy whose brother suffers from schizophrenia and he discourages him from taking medication because it shows a lack of faith in God.
Of course, even if God exists, their actions would merely show a lack of faith in self (doubt as to whether they had understood God correctly), not in God.

Sad...to think that her post-natal depression could have been cured, if not for her religious beliefs
At her point she was well into post natal psychosis.
What are the symptoms?
* over-active and over-enthusiastic behaviour
* racy thoughts
* grandiose ideas
* excessive behaviour (ie, spending, writing, cleaning)
* elevated or irritable moods
* delusions (false beliefs)
* hallucinations (abnormal perceptions)
* nightmares
* insomnia
* decreased need for sleep
* difficulty with concentration and coordination
* obsessive religious beliefs.

Too bad we couldn't convince this arsehole that demons cause all sickness, and never seek any kind of medical help again for himself or his followers.

God's PR company at work again.
It's either a miracle from God, he works in mysterious ways, or a demon did it.
How do they explain the demons if she went to church "several time a week?" What's the point of worshipping a God that won't protect you?
